MarkGolf 6
I'm looking at fitting an uprated pump to replace my dead OEM one.. I understand that the corrado VR6 has a 4 bar pump where the Golf has a 3 bar. Ideally I want an intank one as I won't be running a retrex or retrexed R32 for a few months.. I understand that some people run the OEM pump aswell as an inline one.. I really just want an nitank one which I can throw in the OEM bracket and be done with it..What have you got?Patrick has kindly advised me on a Sytec or a Walbro which I'll go for but wanna know what one exactly and can I get one which just fits in without additional wiring?Or should I just got an get a normal Corrado 4bar?cheers
VR6BOY 2
Vince @ stealth racing can supply you a sytec drop in fuel pump to replace your OEM one,I got one last month for £105+vat and he includes a small adapter thats needed to install them They are a great pump and the one I got is good for 500hp, I had a lower output one in my Mk3 VR6 supercharged and it worked a treat was good for just over 300hp. I would go for a new pump everytime and espically if you are going to up the power in the near future
FishWick 21
Yeah the one Stealth sell is great, I use that one aswell and have no trouble making 400hp with it.It's a Cosworth spec intank marketed by Sytec, but is actually made by Walbro. I'm pretty sure it's just a 255lh under the hood and it's a good pump.
MarkGolf 6
Cool, so it comes with some form of custom mount to enable it to just slot in? Do the standard + / - just plug into it?I'll have to give stealth a call tomorrow! On second thoughts, I'm off to San Fran on Tuesday, is it worth me getting one out there if what I'm buying from Stealth is just an off the shelf item..The car is just host to an N/A 3.0 VR with bolt on upgrades but over the summer at some point I plan on going for a stage 2 Rotrex setup either with this lump or if I can justify ripping out the months and months of work I've put into rebuilding it and extending the loom so soon, I'll be going R32 with the rotrex on that so a pump that'll cover all 3 situations will save some effort in the future would be nice Thanks for the info so far guys
FishWick 21
Yeah these pumps need a sleeve in order to fit in the stock pump cradle properly. Only stealth supply that, they had it custom made for the job.The wiring is easy enough, joins onto the stock loom no probs. One other thing worthy of note with the Cossie spec one is it sits in the stock position, so you can run it with the tank below 1/4 full no probs. Other pumps I've tried sit higher up in the tank and you start pumping air around 1/4 tank.R32 rotrex - should be enough fuel there, but personally on that engine / charger combo I'd be running an external pump too. It's not as nasty or as bad a job as it sounds. Better to have too much fuel than not enough ;-)
MarkGolf 6
Cool, thanks for that Kev!I've read quite a bit of info on people running 2, even 3 pumps! Iwon;t mind fitting an external one once the intank one is fine! I just HATE getting that bloody cap off and back on! Nightmare! lolThanks for the info, i'll give Vince a call tomorrow morning!
