mpgscott 0
Ok, probably been asked before here goes.Been running some 16's for a while and have managed to get a set of RS8 alloys which are 17's, they are currently fitted with 225/40/17 which gives an overall diameter of 612mm. My current 16's are fitted with 215/40/16 and this is an overall diameter of 578mm.Problem is that i did originally have fitted some 205/55/16's which rubbed at the back and this was a diameter of 632mm. I have been looking and the best option would be 205/35/17 but i cant find any. Next would be 195/40/17 but again hard to find. The easy option is 205/40/17 but i am worried that they will rub as they give an overall diameter of 596mm.Whats everyones thoughts? My car is on coilovers and is dropped at least 35mm at the back.Do i need to fit spacers if so where can i get them? Whats the tyre recommendations??Cheers
Jonnyboy82 0
Well im running 205/40/17s on my tt comps, the cars lowered 40mm and no rubbing at all, even with a full car.But then again i think some people will say differently as this has been said before with mixed answers.Personally i think it will be fine
spindat45 0
You should be ok with the 205/40/17's at that height and the wheel offset should be fine. I'm almost cetain it would be the same as the TT Comps which only rubbed slightly on mine when I had a lot of weight in the back. You could go with the 195's for a slightly stretched look to avoid that. Try http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Topgearshop_17-Tyres-Toyo-Yokohama_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ9QQftidZ2QQpZ3QQtZkm. Very good prices especially on Toyo PX4's and next day delivery but probably not for the next couple of days. I've ordered from them a couple of times via their Ebay shop. mpgscott 0
So do you advice the 205's or the 195's?
spindat45 0
I'd say 205's because they're easier to get hold of and I think the handling may be marginally better than 195's
