Miss-Vw 2
Hi allAfter the cock up I had with the original VR6 i was set to buy, I ended up with this one...It has 117k on the clock but had a new engine fitted that had done 89,000 miles on it. This was done about 4 months ago. I have receipts from the previous owner who did it. Is there any way I can set the milometer legally to match the engine mileage? I know it's still got the 117k of chassis miles but at the end of the day, its about the engine life really in my opinion. Ive heard there are companies that do it professionally but I have no idea where to go, any ideas?

Ben Seabrook 4
yeah I thought the same as Tony - the only way to have done it would have been to buy the complete clock/dial setup that came on the donor engine car and install them I guess ?
xyber 1
I kniw people that can do it, but if for if you had to replce the dials for some reason and they are very cautious with carrying it out
Roan 0
AFAIK it is not illegal to adjust the mileage on a car, it's only if you don't disclose this when you sell it that it's illegal. I don't see much point doing it on your car as you'll be legally obliged to tell any new owner anyway.
