HELP HELP and HELP Lumpy VR6 1996 highline

Hope some one can help

My VR is running really lumpy like its running on 4 or 5 cylinders, and its like it all through the rev range Ive put a brand new coil pack on and still the same

Only have light mods on the car ss exhaust, panel filter and chip, its been running fine for nearly 2 years, the problem started when I didnt catch it starting the other day turned the key again and it took ages to start then ran lumpy ever since

Checked and cleaned the earth on the ECU still the same

Checked the plugs and leads and there all good but still the same lumpyness

I have taken the leads off one at a time to see which cylinder is out and it isnt any of them????

It runs really really bad with any one of leads off but put them all on and its much smoother but still very lumpy,

Its not fuel, checked the pump is working fine and I only use Tesco 99

Its like having a cylinder out but there all firing????

Now I'm at a loss

When mine was running like a dog it was the MAF connector plug. Check the wiring into the MAF multi plug. The wires on mine were corroded, so the car had no idea how much to fuel as the MAF was giving strange readings.

Have you put it on VAG-COM? Seems like the best idea TBH. Mine was running a bit lumpy under load, turns out the coolant temp sensor was faulty.

I had similar issues and althought the leads looked solid, they were arching out through the cable, like a plasma ball, all over the inlet. only spotted it with the engine running at night.. i had exactly the same symptoms as you and a new coilpack&leads sorted it. if thats not sorted it then VAG COM should pick something up, especially as its a constant (rather than intermittant) problem....
