golfgirlvr6 0
Should be pretty simple! just so long that you put the vr wiring loom in it! if you have the knowledge, then you should be able to get it done in a weekend!
golfgirlvr6 0
Oh and you may want to put the vr hubs and brakes on the gti, as they wont stop it!lol! plus the suspension, etc etc
nmackenzie 0
i have already got the brakes on the gti.when u mean vr wiring will i have to remove the dash?
gavinvr6 0
it will be an easy swap since you have both full cars, engine-box-clocks-keys-ecu-loom. done. well thats the idea anyway, as per golf girl should only be a weekends work, there is a guy in south london who can have you up and running in a day but he's gunna cost a few quid lol
sparkz 0
You will have to change the pedal box as the 8v gti runs a cable clutch and the vr runs a hydraulic setup. I done my missus' gti/vr swap in a weekend, but if you havnt done this kind of swap before, it may take you longer.By the way, dashboard will have to come out to change the pedal box and make sure you order the white clip for the brake pedal from VAG as they always break when you remove the pedal from the servo. Also, as far as brakes are concerned, if you are uusing a late gti (96 onwards), they run a 288mm setup anyway, failing that, the 280mm setup will be sufficient unless you are planning on running big power....Like these!!
