SHARKY 0
Hi Guys...My car is in for a full respray and I'm hoping for some advice you guys can give me for when I get it back...Should I wax it or treat the paint to some protection? Or a glaze or some kind of trreatment? Is it too soon? Will the paint actually be considered "hard" so no cleaner for a while? Any precautions - apart from the obvious ones like DON'T scratch it!!! LOL I'm a Meguiars convert at the moment so whats the best product to protect the paint (I usually use the Meguiars three step system - works for me!)... WIthout buying some ludicrously priced product - sort of a price V's quality guide...Any advice would be more than welcome as this is costing me and I obvioulsy don't want to damage it.Any comments and advice will be very appreciated..Cheers... Roan 0
Make sure when you get the car back it has been properly machined, with no swirls or buffer trails - many bodyshops pay no attention to the finish. If you can see any defects, make them correct them before you accept the car back. There's no need for any paint cleaners or claying (a bit harsh anyway on new paint), so go straight to wax or sealant. Ditch the Megs stage 3 wax, it has no durability. Instead get some Collinite 476s or 915, as they are cheap and long lasting and provide a great finish for the money. Put on several coats 24 hours apart. Make sure when you wash it you use a good washing technique as to avoid inflicting damage to the lovely new paint. I would wait a few weeks before touching the car in any case to let the paint properly cure. If in doubt go to www.detailingworld.com
xyber 1
TBH I wouldnt do anything for a month on new paint, it needs to breathe and let everything evap to fully cure, then if you boughtZaino all in one (AIO) and Zaino grand finale and one of the waxes Roan mentioned it will look the nuts, hunt around on detailing world as there is alot more to properly detailing a car than most think and it isnt cheap, but needs doing if your going to the expense of new paintthis is mine when it was sprayed at xmas, machine polished and just sealed so with a few layers of wax yours will look awesome
jesterwalker69 0
TBH I wouldnt do anything for a month on new paint' date=' it needs to breathe and let everything evap to fully cure[/quote']Agreed. Deffinately do NOT treat the paintwork with anything until at least after a month. Otherwise u seal in all the degenerate sh*t and the finish ruins from the inside out..... which is a shame to happen to 1k+ paint job!
