manzi 0
right guys and girls, let me apologies for another rough running thread but this time i can't seem to get it back to normal, well its beyond my capabilities.i have the all time favorite rough running, i met someone on big fat tour 2 that checked it with vagcom, coolant temp sensor and throttle switch came up.the coolant temp sensor was replaced to begin with then the throttle body was cleaned, it had then started to do funny things on revs, dropping very slowly and hanging around 2k on slowing down until after 3-4secs on a stop, it also jerks every now and again when i let the car roll in gear coming to a stop.mate of mine said he had same prob and replaced the throttle body, i've now done that and it runs bit smoother, only thing is the problem with the revs still remains. was told it maybe throttle body that needs setting up on vagcom, to this point i've not done anything more.anyone got any suggestions? cheers
SankysVR6 1
Have you cleared the fault codes, and re-scanned a few days later to see if the original faults have gone.Is yours OBD2 car, as if it is you can disconnect the battery for about 10 mins , and re-connect. And TB should go back to it's default settings, and then re-adapt itself after a few hours of driving.
manzi 0
i've not got a code reader or anything to clear codes. mine is a OBD2.cheers for pronto reply mate.someone needs to clear certain things up on resetting the TB, did some research on here and found that some say disconnecting the battery will trigger the car or ecu to be in safe mode and some say it will be fine.if it is fine then i will prob attempt it later today. SankysVR6 1
I've disconnected my battery after I cleaned the TB to realign it, and it was fine. After i connected the battery, i just turned the ignition but didn't start the car for 5minutes. Then started and left on idle for another 5 minutes. And all was fine for me.
SankysVR6 1
But I would get your codes read again, and cleared to see if the parts you have replaced have sorted the first set of faults.I could clear your faults for you you, but you will have to take a drive up to me. VR6Pete 1,455
measuring block group 098 on the VAG come to reset your throttle body. [select][01 - Engine][Measuring Blocks - 08]Group 098 (Note: Some SIMOS or Marelli ECU's use Group 001 such as ADY & AEE engines)[Go!][switch to basic settings]Once you do this you will see the top right display say ADP RUN. The TB adaptation is being done as soon as you switch to basic settings. You will see the values change and hear the TB cycle for the first few seconds then it will stop. Leave it in Basic Settings for about 30 seconds.[switch to Meas. Blocks] button and you're all set.
