MJ Vr6 79
Sup peeps.. Seem to be havin a problem with windows steaming... Need to rule out whether it be the Matrix or Front Screen seal causing problem.. Took the car for a clean few weeks ago, and ever since then the front windscreen steams up..I initially thought it was the Matrix, but then only certain spots on the windscreen decided to get steamed...Bloody weird. So this carried on for a while, say a week roughly.. Been checking the Water, and i just dont seem to be loosing any!!! Now from friday the whole car inside, all the bloody windows seem to be steaming... Now last nite on the way home from work, it did not steam up at all, But when i went out last nite and got to work this morning it steamed! As i got home yesterday, i pushed the bottom of the windscreen, I maybe paranoid but im sure the Windscreen had a bit of play in it!! This mornin when i got to work, i left the car runnin, went and got a plastic lens and put it over the Front screen vents in the car to see if it mist's up, But it did'nt!!! Now this windscreen was supplied by APACHE WINDSCREENS... Not sure if the glass is original, as i spoke to our old member GREG VR6 lasnite, and he was saying that some of the copy front screens had a few problems...How do i know for sure if its the Matrix? How would i know if it's the Front screen? Somebody HELP!!!! LoL My normal garage that i use cannot fit my car inn till 26th Feb, i rang around yesterday to get some quotes, i was so astonished in some of the ridiculous prices ive been hearing!!!- £288-00, £260-00.. The garage that i use is like half of that..The next place i found which was reasonable was YAASH Motorsport by the ACE cafe(£160).. But im a bit reluctant to give them the car!-No Offence! These are the prices for doin the Matrix..So if any one has had this problem before, please let me know...
jezmoz 0
what makes you think it's the matrix? If you're getting hot air from the blowers and not losing water then it's probably water getting in via 1. the doors ( check door seals, door cards off etc, door drainage in the hinge)2. Sunroof drains are blocked3. rear cluster seals perished4. any rubber sealant perished5. Pollen filter blocked (water coming though bulkhead, 6. Water coming through bonnet release rubber .seal. have you felt the carpets? are they wet? Is it just the windscreen that steams? It has been very cold of late and the windscreen will steam from your body heat/breath. water leaks usually steam the whole car and give condensation in the car. And obviously the carpets will be wet to touch. Good luck
MJ Vr6 79
Dude, thanks for getting back to me, from your answers id take number 5..Carpets are not wet at all..All rubber seals are ok, apart from the windscreen were i have to check. Rear Clusters OK. Sunroof drains need to be checked, but how does that cause the windscreen to Steam?
thegoth 5
but how does that cause the windscreen to Steam? It makes the air coming into the car 'wet' so that as soon as the car starts cooling the windows steam up.
MJ Vr6 79
Rite!!! Got the windscreen people down here, they found that the water was seepin though the bottom. When he replaced windscreen originally, was done on a slope!!! He is now re-sealing the screen. Hopefully this will have cured it!
