the 1st vr6 graft this year

Recommended Posts

god, i must love my mrs, either that or i love her vr!!

after a years ownership now, too many things were going wrong with her car, waterpump was p'ing out with water, TB needed changing cos there was a constant idling problem which could only be fixed with wiping the fault codes, and some a55wipe bumped the front wing and drove off!!!

not being the sort of person to go to a garage, i set about doing the work myself. i thought if i was changing the TB, i might aswell polish the manifold at the same time, and if i was going to that trouble i might aswell change the waterpump too, and if the front end was coming off i might aswell change the wing while i was at it!!

i took some pics for my troubles 8-| ...yeah i know they're on the wonk and grainy!! lol

the point of no return...

hey, look it's me!! lol

the only problem i did have was a snapped ht lead...damn!!

i dread to think what i would've cost to have paid for the work, so far it cost -

TB (ta clarkie) £40

wing & paint £50

water pump £25

gaskets £5

and a few days of my time!! ...oh yeah, not to mention, thanks to the vr6oc forum for all the info i've needed ;)

thanks pete, my reputation is little known on the net as i don't brag myself up, but, yup i did do sal's comps :)

paul, without giving too much away, start with an angle grinder, then a sander then wet and dry to 1200 grit, the secret is go easy on the angle grinder or you'll have a ripply finish, to finish use polishing mops with med+fine compounds...then as an amateur, set aside 25 hours ;)
