Big expense for me soon...

Recommended Posts

On the positive reviews of Stealth racing, I'm going to book my VR in for:

1. A new exhaust, probably the Supersprint with letterbox style tip as mine is finally blowing on the original system.

2. Along with my front brakes looked at (again!!! - though not by Stealth) for brake judder, so new discs and pads plus perhaps new calipers? God knows what the problem is, been looked at by the dealers 4 times, and a VW specialist, all they seem to do is fit new discs and pads. So hopefully Stealth maybe able to find the underlying problem to cause premature disc warping! They last about 4 months before the judder sets in again ~:(

3. Do they do beisbarth alignment? As my car is handling like crap and it looks like one wheel is seriously off in camber!

4. Gonna get the suspension top mounts and bumpstops checked as I have FK Edition Coilovers which handle well around corners but when going over speed bumps the car seems to bounce down and hit the road (after the bump), doesnt feel right even for a lowered car and taking them rediculously slow too. My front splitter has been truly in the wars!!

5. Needs a service, but I'll take it to VW for this to maintain the FVWSH, so that's £125 for an oil and filter change! Need this as I plan on claiming on the 11yr anti corrosion warranty I believe I am entitled to!

Anyway, everything always seems to come together when things go wrong or need general maintainance on cars!!! :( Probably looking at 700-800 over the next month. And oh joy then insurance is due :@

£125 for oil and filter change, thats criminal, £17 oil from VW, <£10 for filter, £100 Labour!!!!!!!!!!!!! ouch, sounds like you get your £100 worth though with the rust claim and the full history when you eventually sell it, they're definately not the cheapest beast on the road ;-)

Personally I don't think a VW history is worth the expense. I think its more valuable to a newer car, than it is to cars of our age (the newest VR's are now 6 odd years old). As long as the maintainance can be proved with stamps as well as invoices then that is just as good (sometimes better!). So much the better if the history is from big independants like Stealth and C&R Enterprises.
