Daft Question To Some

Recommended Posts

This maybe a daft question for people in the know but what is the most BHP/TORQUE acheived in a VR6. Taking into account anything is obtainable with money. I read magazines where cars are modded to 700BHP and beyond and at great expence. I once read a article about a Skyline reaching a 1000BHP but it cost the guy £150,000 to get there. The Goth told me the VR6 engine was originaly designed as a diesel and is a very very strong engine so i wonder how far you could mod the engine.

Sorry for being daft.

Sean :)

Well you can take an off the shelf R32 engine to 650 BHP there is a few videos in the members section of it! But like said above. How much you got? you could always put 2 x 650BHP motors in which gives you 1300BHP!

If you got that much money.... fancy giving me some?

With unlimited cash, the VR6 should be able to achieve very big power figures. This thing is though, engines like the 1000bhp skyline bear very little resemblence to the production unit.

Custom block, head, crank, rods, pistons etc cost the money but it's only really an engine that fits in the same place as the original...

That said, I believe Carpi's engine when it was at 580bhp (season 4?) ran on a stock bottom end and did the whole season without a rebuild.

I've read it was originally designed with the option of being dieseled which is why they went with the timing chain instead of a belt. Wish they'd gone with a belt tbh, tinkle, tinkle, tinkle... and/or a non interference head. :^)
