hellsVR6 0
And was a bit worried...now I reckon my car needs an interim service (71k miles now and was prob last done at about 60k). Started the beast up tonight after work in the car park, and then cut out after say 5 seconds. Started up again ok tho.Got about 3 miles up the road and noticed whilst sat at the lights a wee bit of smoke from under bonnet...ohhhh sh1t...what can this be?? So, pulled over, opened it up, and could smell a bit of burning but couldn't see anything. Let engine run again for a few mins with bonnet open and couldn't see, or smell anything after that.Did something just go a bit doowacky for a minute or could this be more sinister? I know it will be difficult to diagnose, but oil temp was fine, coolant is just on min but not overheating, so will fill up tomorrow anyway to be certain. Anyone got half a clue what could have happened?Cheers guys
turbo_ted 0
mine done this the over day. ive just had a look tonight, turns out that the throttle body pipe has a slight split in the bottom, just before the actual throttle body, this caused oil (very slight) to drip into the hot exhaust manifold, causing it to smoke. hellsVR6 0
Cheers for that. Will have another look then with engine running in daylight and see if I can spot any splits or anything. I'm also guessing it's a pain in the ar5e to replace as is everythin with these cars (I'm so not mechanically minded it's untrue! )
daleyboyVR6 6
was it steam or smoke? .................. :-p
hellsVR6 0
Almost certain it was smoke, I've seen it overheat before so nothing as bad, just as if a little pixie was sat in the engine bay having a fag and blowing the smoke out of the front grill! But then it went....which was most odd!
craggsy 91
Could be a dead animal being cooked on radiator or block
daleyboyVR6 6
thats a nice thought...................even one single drop of oil on the exhaust is enough to give you a small plume of smoke and it'll stink.......................... :-p
