Recommended Posts

Looking for a decent exhaust place in Hampshire/West Sussex that fits Scorpion systems, I have a Scorpion at the moment that is misalligned and scraping, been to a couple of places but no one wants to touch it, any suggestions appreciated ;-)

Ok took the car to another couple of exhaust places and the consensus is that it was badly fitted to start with, the main pipe sits hard up against one side of the v shaped hanger forward of the two rear boxes. Problem is that the bl**dy thing has been welded together, its even been welded to the cat, surely this isn't normal is it?! I have done plenty of back boxes and centre section replacements before and have only ever clamped them, is it more common to weld performance stainless systems....anyone? I am desparate to get this sorted asap as the scraping at 2 to 3k rpm sounds awful ;-( all advice most appreciated ;-)

Sounds like a job for the angle grinder 8o) ,

Scorpion imho are a load of crap - i had a system on my Mk1 years ago when the first came out- i ended up over a 2 year period changing the system 7 times - sometimes the car was off the road for a week at a time whilst the system was collected then repaired and returned to me.

After a got p'd off with this approach they sent me a complete new system which had been extensively re-designed - obviously it waasnt just me having problems then.

The new system had brace plates where the pipes went into the silencer boxes - this looked like a good idea but it just shifted the fracture point away from the box joint to the end of the brace plate x) .

In the end after sending this system back twice i got a replacement Jetex system from the supplier - Motech iirc....

Best thing you can do with that system is throw it off a cliff....

Pete.

he he, to be honest the system i've got isn't going to break in a lifetime, it's seriously built. I'm loathed to bin it as obviously its a £350 system and less than 2 years old, so the garages reckon. It was on when I bought the car.. Think I'm going to disconnect the whole system including the cat and try and separate the whole lot on the bench, then put it back together properly. Hope the welds can be removed. Will be off the road for a bit I guess..
