VR6Pete 1,455
Went to start my car this morning.... and it started spluttered and cut out. when i put me ignition on auxilery my oil light flashed 3 times and stayed solid, but when the car did start 2nd time round it didnt flash in auxilery and went out as soon as it started. it was quite a damp morning at 7am... does anyone know what this could be?Pete

jcorallo 0
When you first turned the engine over, there was no oil in the system (all drains back to the sump overnight), hence the flashing light, so it takes longer to charge the system with oil.Second time you tried to start it, you'd allready just primed the system with oil, so the light went out quicker as it built pressure quicker.Jules
tandino 1
Cutting out was probavbly due to the hydraulic tappets having no pressure and therefore not opening the valves...How long since the car was used prior to having the starting problems? - seems strange if it was only a day or so?Pete.
