Guest culum1
I need to replace my wisbones on my '97 Golf VR6 so I have bought a set of Bugpack items. Just had a quick look at what I need to do to get the wishbones off and noticed that on the offside wishbone the front mounting bolt is very close to the sump and looks as if it may not be easy to draw the bolt out.If anyone who has done this job could offer any advice it would be gratefully recieved! jagzVR6 0
I done mine a few months back and ended up dropping the rear subframe because someone told me this is the only way but now i wish i didnt because i think it stressed the steering colunm where it meets the rack. (maybe i didnt do it properly?) if i had to do it again i would take the sump off and change the gasket at the same time
Lizard Racing 0
Take the sump off mate, bit of a fiddle but its the lesser of the 2 evils!
Phat VR6 3
DONT take the sump off you mad heads!!! Total mission. Remove the top bolt of the engine mount, O/S/R! The left rear one as your looking at the engine. Then when you got the bolt almost all the way out so its praticy hitting the sump jack the engine up just enuff that you can take your bolt out at an angle. Should only have to lift an 1" or so!!That how I do it anyway
Lizard Racing 0
The above is possible with standard mounts but not with Vibratechnics etc. Last time I did it I was changing the oil too.
