temp issue

thanks for the help last time, had my thermo housing changed in the morning, drove to manchester from cornwall in the afternoon.

BUT

the temp needle now sits at well under 70, and sometimes not far off the first little marks on the guage. temp will rise in traffic and the fans cut in as usual.

what could this mean?

oil temp is still as regular as ever.

sounds like a faulty thermostat to me,i had the same in my car,found out it was stuck half open.

I had a similiar issue but on a mk3 GTi, turned out to be a faulty temp sender/switch located on one of the water hoses, not sure if the vr6 works on the same principle, but just thought I'd make mention of it. Actually bought 2 at the time so still have a brand new one, I think they cost around £20 from Vag.
