binliner 0
is a Golf 2.8 inlet manifold the same as a Corrado 2.9?
acf8181 0
aren't all 'rado's obd1? think they're the same as obd1 golfs if so. (note the word 'think')
MarkGolf 6
I've been told the 2.9 ABV is bigger (inlet diameter) aswell as the TB! I noticed that the Golf AAA inlets have AAA on the inlet manifold whereas my corrado inlet has noting what so ever...
jcorallo 0
The 2.9 manifold itself is different - it has an enlarged plenum area. If you flip the 2.8 one over, you can see there are 'fake' bits to the side of the main central tract - well, on a 2.9, they are actually used. This is one reason why a 2.9 has less low down torque but more power up top than a 2.8. The 2.8 manifold keeps the air moving fast at lower engine speeds but starts to get restricted higher up in the revs - and the opposite for the 2.9....Its my theory that this is the reason that 2.9's are said to not last as long as 2.8 engines - cos you've got to rev em more to make em go I reckon....!Jules
