stuart colgan 0
Over the bank holiday I installed a new Alpine 9870r in my 94' VR6, and all went well, even managed to wire up my direct ipod cable and everything! However....everytime I now start my car my radio station presets are not there... they are not being stored. I know that this is prob due to my power source for the stereo being connected to the ignition, BUT I NEED HELP! What wire have I not connected properly, what should I do??!!! EmkayVR6 0
If u listen to a cd, does it go back to the start of the cd when u turn it off and back on or does it play from the last place it was in? It sounds like u haven't got a constant live feed to the unit so every time u turn it off it resets itself
vr6madmike 0
There should be 2 power wires and usually they have a push connection built into them so you can swap them over red and yellow i think?
EmkayVR6 0
yeah thats right my alpine loom is the same, The yellow one is usually the one that provides the constant live and the red one takes a feed from somethin like the ignition. I couldn't find a constant live inside the dash without takin it all out so just ran a wire direct from the battery inthru the dash and into the yellow wire
stuart colgan 0
thats right, i havent tried it with a CD yet but the IPOD plays from the start again, not from the place it last stopped! Once ive left the car and remote locked it , then gone back in the radio had reset itself! so it may be an ignition issue...a permanent power source prob! I have connected both the yellow and red wires so I am stuck when it comes to more wiring! any more ideas very welcome! (i)
Karr-Man 0
the way i would do it is take both the red and yellow wires and twist them together. make sure the ignition is switched off. connect the red+yellow connection to your in car wires in turn and see if the stereo turns on. if the stereo will turn on u have found your constant power wire, this should be wired to yellow, then connect red back to the ignition power soucre (or leave them both connected if u want the stereo to woirk with the ignition off.)if theres no wire that will run the stereo ignition off while connected to red+yellow then u need to lay iun another line to the battery ( remember a fuse)gl
