Hi everybody

I own a stock 96 Golf MK3 VR6 12 V. And while searching I hit the product below:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electric-Supercharger-Turbo-conversion-VW-Golf-VR6_W0QQitemZ200096182678QQcmdZViewItem

or

http://www.electronicturbosystems.com

Does anyone have an idea about it? Or any other advice pls??

I have just bought the car and want to have a boost affect, a slight increase in power (reasonably) and especially the feeling of driving a turbocharged car (with the blow off sound :)

Many thanks

M.Bircan

tbh there isnt really a cheap option for more power... unless you can afford to supercharge or turbo it you'll spend a lot for very little gain

Drilling the wing side of the airbox below the filter or getting some kind of cone filter will improve the induction noise though

The obd2 vr (which you will have) is a very hard car to get more power from as its already in a high state of tune (with approx 185-190 standard which many don't realise). An exhaust and free flowing air filter will liberate about 5bhp in total. Depends on what power you want and budget you have really. If I was going to mod my car from scratch again I would have gone straight for 268 cams and a remap and that's all unless I had more money. The cams and remap will give you about 10-15bhp straight away (you must get the remap done afterwards though!). Downside is the cost - second hand cams were what I went for: ~£230 or £400 to 500 new (Stealth recommend only going for Shrick or Eurospec really if you want even spread of power throughout the rev range as some cams shift all power higher up the rev range making you lose torque lower down) and the Stealth Racing remap £300... this is the best value way of getting power for your money really. I spent lots of money on smaller mods like my exhaust, 6 branch, high flow cat, BMC etc etc and all netted less than 10bhp if that. Cams and remap cost less that all the latter and got more power too.

Best bet is to speak to Stealth Racing or The Phirm. Both are the best in the UK when it comes to tuning the VR. Good luck mate.
