ssaenger 0
hi Guys,I am getting a knocking sound when turning on full lock, I have been told that the probable cause is the universal joints may have gone or on their way out.I have googled this and found a bit, how to replace them - someone has suggested attacking this from the steering wheel end by replacing the boot, others have said that its best to remove the engine (seems excessive) however i have found no sites on how much this will cost. my usual place GSF does not stock these. cheersSteve

Bigjobbo 0
Do you definately think its the UJ? or did you mean c.v?? c.v's are servicable items, the UJ detatches from the base of the column, and the rack from the inside of the car. no need for engine out!
crish72 0
Knocking noise on full turn usually means CV joint does it not?
EmkayVR6 0
yeah usually but not always, i had a cracked spring on my megane that caused a similar noise to the cv joint when on full lock
