kalv 0
You still ain't sorted your ECU problem out? Can't you go back to person who fitted it (unless it was you) ?

VR6Pete 1,455
Collins Performance of Congleton??I know the most of the people down at Collins Performance - namely Martin Collins, my mate who went to Ultime Dubs with me also works there.. Power Chips they are... had one in my last car along with a mongoose zaust etc... so I know what they sell aint pure shite..Your not doing a very good job of explaing the whole story mate - if you can take the time to explain what happened fully, maybe people could offer better advise...Why did you remove the chip? How did you know it was getting hot? after how long? What problems did you have BEFORE having the chip fitted.I've seen 2 - 3 threads with your "ecu problems" why not just keep to 1 thread? makes tracking and following it alot easier too.But id you did remove the chip (is it on a board or soldered into the board of the ECU?) then you have effectivly voided your warrenty presumably.Pete
baz8328 0
collins have done me a few chips before on cars !! and they have been mint i removed the chip as it had become red hot and the sticker on top of the chip had started to melt !!i am not sayin its collins performance fault as i removed the chip and i accept full responsibilty for this.the problem started when i got ecu back ! the car would fire up then die after a few seconds ! so i checked the ecu out as it smelt funny and found the chip sticker had melted .i have rang the nice people at STEALTH And they will fit me a new remapped chip which will include extra bhp as i give them a list of mods on the car !!i am sorry i posted a few threads but couldnt bear to scrap my vr6 !!I hope i havent annoyed anyone and if so i am sorry!!Problem looks like it is gettin sorted WOOHOOOOO
thegoth 5
If the ECU had problems before it was chipped even Vince the Wizard might not be able to help you. What problem did the ECU originally develop?
VR6Pete 1,455
Cool, glad you got a result, although if the sticker has melted off the top of the chip, there is clearly a problem dispite the chip being removed or not...Sue knows her shit when it comes to chips, always has, but you do get dodgy ones slipping through the net which could cause problems like you've had. it shouldnt have got that hot to melt the label anyway! and collins should accept that despite the surrounding situation.but at the end of the day, you will always be better off getting a custom remap as opposed to any off the shelf chip if you have modifications... every engine is different, and a custom chip would be better suited for you...what other mods do you have on ur car? I'm sure Uncle Vince will look after you!Pete
