Guest m4towen
hi fellasi have a golf mk2 with 2.9 vr6 corrado engine innit and late last year my head gasket went, which in turn f*****d up my cylinder head :-( it didnt lookm like the engine had seen a drop of anti-freeze in its life (make sure alloy blocks have half anti-freeze and half water) as i didnt know. which in turn i had to have a bit of welding done on the head! when i got it back it wasnt running great! like it had a miss fire. i was told i had low compression on the 6th cylinder.the company that did the job are a reputable company, and assure me that it has been fixed like new. but know its like a scooby on tick-over! while he were there they changed my big end shells as they were ready and the engine was out. i am just wondering if any one else has had the same job done on there vr and had issues when theyvee got it back!wot you guys think (oh n it seems abit slower! but i mite b used to it)
VR6Pete 1,455
if its sounding like a scooby, it defo sounds you have a misfire or the timing is out... Cant say I've had much post problems following major surgery with my car to be honest.

matth76 1
If you're not happy with the car take it back to the company that did the work! That's the customer's right. Get them to fix it until it sounds and runs normally. It shouldn't sound like a scooby on tick over. It should be pretty much silent if it has just had a rebuild. I assume they told you you had to 'run' the engine in for a set number of miles before taking it over 3k revs? This is normal procedure for engine rebuilds and very important. However it should still sound normal straight away. Take it back to the garage and get them to sort it out. Get a second opinion too from another specialist first such as The Phirm or Stealth to back up your case that the car is not right.
