How much to replace timing chains?

Hello All, I'm looking at buying an OBD2 VR6 at the moment and one in particular where the timing chain tensioners are on their way out. I realise that this is quite normal around 80k - 100k.

Am I right in thinking that if you are replacing the tensioners you should replace the chains themselves at the same time? I gather The Phirm are probably the best people to go to for this job (I'm in the South), does anyone know how much the work should cost?

I was also wondering whether it would be best to get the clutch done at the same time while the gearbox is out and how much that would cost.

Any advice much appreciated, thanks ion advance!

yes to all the above lol,chhains u might as well change as its no more difficult once its apart and same with the clutch matey

yes mate you are best to do all the above at the same time while the box is out.

i am guessing you mean if any body has had their chains etc done and how much it would cost you to have it done.

at guess i would say around the grand mark but you are best to give them a call and ask them .

Its about £800+vat for chains, tensioners and clutch fitted.

I discussed this with Vince a while back and he (an many others) recommend timing chain replacement if you are going for an FI set-up. He quoted me £1450 for clutch, chain and general overhaul.

Vince from Stealth recently quoted me £750+VAT for a chain/guide/clutch swap. Not cheap!
