Enyone ever done enythink like this b4? Id like to get it back to how it was as the engine & box are mint at just over 45000 miles, would seem a shame to put it in a mk2 if my car is worth keeping Please help me turn my little face happy again :-( i miss the roar so much i went out yesterday & started it up just to remember what it sounds like,i want it back!!! purple highline monster 0
its possible, but it may be a lot easier to get another car and profit from all the good stuff on this one? or even use the engine and box as a spare "just in case" theres no telling if it will drive straight if the suspension is that damaged, it may need jigging? what did the insurance say? or isnt it fully comp
Jk* 0
Its maybe not the cost, but hell of a lot of time, and theres no saying its going to be fine or the same car when youve done it mate...i say move on.
Bigjobbo 0
I've done a fair few as i work in crash repair. It's not a difficult job, as long as you have access to a press and spring compressors. Is the drive shaft bent? they take a good knock before bending, you may be ok with just a cv joint. Is there play in the rack?? On some motors the track rod is seperate from the steering gear, and can be replaced with a new t.r.end.You also say two shockers, is that both front shockers?? or a rear as well as a front? Can you see the rear beam is bent? or is the wheel just out of track? you may be able to get away with just a hub and bearing to straighten that up.If this was my car i would definately repair it, but i have the advantage of the right tools/equipment.Also use plenty ow WD40 when removing the abs sensor from the knuckle, as they seize in and are a get to remove. As an estimate without seeing the damage i would say your list should be this: N/S/F strut, hub, knuckle, bearing, lwr arm,CV joint, brake disc, N/S/R shocker, hub and bearing.Obviously i cant see the damage, but to fcuk the caliper, you must of hit the kerb at a fair pace.Hope this helps, if you need any further advice, i can help. Not to sure if their is play in the rack as i cant turn the wheel at the mo because the front wheel is laying flat on the ground, think drive shaft is defo bent as the paint has flaked off the middle which indicates it has to me :S oh & yes the rear beam is as bent as elton john :-d LOL If i get this donor car it would be good that i get all parts at once, keeps it nice & simple if ya know what i mean
