jte 0
I just bought a nice new Alpine Head Unit, should be delivered tomorrow with luck.I have a fairly new Sony 10 disc changer that replaced the ageing original gold sony affair. Will this changer be compatible with the new Alpine Head Unit? Pittuf 0
Don't think so, but not sure, it will probably depend of the connector plug. Should say in the instructions, but I think you'll find that most companies stuff will only work together.
SankysVR6 1
i changed my sony head unit for my alpine system.I did try if the sony changer would work with the alpine head unit out of curisoty but it didn't work.
jte 0
Obviously i'm going to plug it in and try whatever! but it looks unlikely. Oh well, looks like i may have to splash out more on an Alpine changer. Which seem quite expensive. The sony one was half the price of the equivilent alpine. I hope Alpine's reputation for quality is deserved!
dubloke 4
alpine are at the top level of in car entertainment and there reputation is deserved, from my experience! a sony 10 disc goes for @£70 these days compared to @ £120 for an alpine 6. there again the alpine will play cdr/rw discs and the sony wont! thats the difference! you can always sell the ten disc to offset the cost! jte 0
I don't mind paying for something thats top quality, which is why i went for Alpine. Just hoped to use the sony one for a bit longer to ease costs.I will probably sell the sony changer and offset about 1 fifth of the cost of the new one!!!
binliner 0
I went for an mp3 head unit instead... 10 albums on one disc its like having a changer on each CD!
jte 0
My new Head Unit has got MP3 and WMA capability. I had forgotten that. Maybe i could live without a changer after all!Or with a changer and MP3 i could have pretty much all the music i could ever need ready to go all the time.I'm off to play with my cd burner............ binliner 0
lol... mp3 is the way forward!
jte 0
Heat Unit arrived yesterday! Even with my huge level of incompetence i had it fitted very quickly. I had to remove the glove box under the airbag to pull the jungle of wires back enough to get the stereo in the slot, but other than that it was really simple. The sony Changer didn't work, what a suprise! But i did manage to work out how to make MP3 discs, so i'm happy! binliner 0
I know the feeling... got mine 2 weeks ago and was amazed how easy to fit and how much I love mp3s!
jte 0
Only trouble is the more powerful heat unit now makes the poor little vw speakers sound a bit rubbish. However i have just seen a nice set of Alpine Type R components that will fit into the doors and dash bits quite nicely!Been shopping at www.caraudiosecurity.com They seem very cheap and the service was perfect.
