matth76 1
HiMy Goodyear F1's still have tread on them (haven't reached the minimum thread indicators yet) but they are going to need changing in a couple of months. However twice I have slightly skidded in them (just going round a tight roundabout at low speed!) which I never used to with my old Continentals. The F1's are very good in the dry though. Ideally I want something that is safe in the wet though more than anything. I've heard of Rainsports... are these good and who makes them? Any other very good makes for the wet? Thanks for any help or info.CheersMatt
Earwig 89
I always found my F1's to be very good in the rain.....Never had anything that was close to them.I have Toyo Proxes now and they are not a patch on the F1's in the wet.Mark.

GVK 1
Uniroyal rain sports are as good if not better than F1s in the wet...tried them all over the years.

dstyrrell 0
I swear by Yokohama A539 's i always use these tyres they have awesome grip.
mk3anni 0
I had A539's on one of my old cars, amazing in the dry, shocking in the wet
VR40 0
Pirelli P Zero Neros are my latest tyres. Quite impressed really. Although I can't wait to get another set of the Uniroyal Rainsports. Awesome tyres imo.
dstyrrell 0
I had A539's on one of my old cars' date=' amazing in the dry, shocking in the wet[/quote']I disagree mate, mine sticks like shit to a blanket even in the wet, everyone who i take in it comments how well they grip even in the wet, friend of mine had them on his civic and said they were awesome too. VR40 0
That surprises me too mate. Yokies are notorious for their capabilities in the dry because of the type of compound they use in the rubber. They are a soft tyre designed for dry use, they aren't a directional tyre so i would think they have water displacement issues??
dstyrrell 0
Here is the spec for my A539's As you can see they have awesome grip, especially in the wet, i have had them for the last 2 set of tyres and i have never had problem in the wet or dry.YOKOHAMA - A539An asymmetrical dual-angle patterned tyre offering an ideal balance of performance and comfort. Features: High-rigidity blocks help sure cornering Firm grip in the dry Superior grip in the wet Low noise, enhanced comfort
Kaz 0
Anyone tried the Goodyear Hydragrips? They're supposed to be great in the wet. We run Eagle NCT5's on the mk4 - never had a problem with them in the wet, but they're not up to the F1's. Got them on the mk2, and they're going to be fitted asap to the VR.Toyo Proxes are nothing compared to F1's.
Luke 0
Im running toyo proxes t1-s's all round & all i can say is they r wicked in the rain, not sure bout in the dry as i aint ad them that long, compound is very soft so i dont think they are going to last very long :-(
Backo 0
vr mofo, ive got toyo t1-r"s on the front on my VR,the grip in dry and wet is awesome, really good off the mark and high speed cornering, good rim protection if your not into the stretched look!.totally trust them in wet or dry and yes i push the car hard(on a private road of course!) purple highline monster 0
yeah gotta go with the toyos too great all round tyre, have been running them for 4 years now on my last and current car, cant fault them, had yokos and avon, bridgestones and goodyears, must say toyos win hands down on my style of driving wet or dry, even if they are slightly stretched got conti sport contacts on my original solitudes and rate them too, something to bare in mind folks..if your skidding around corners and nearly losing it wet or dry...think about slowing down maybe???? youll only moan when your car gets mullered
