sooty 0 Posted September 12, 2006 Report Share Posted September 12, 2006 hi all just wondered if anyone can shed some light on a water leak that has developed i have a 94 obd1 vr6 104k it has always used a drop of water but over the last week i have been topping it up every day thought it could be the cap or bottle so changed both since doing that have seen water appearing behind the airbox around the pulley next to the alternator pulley also the main water hose is pressured all the time when running is that normal? it didnt do that before i put the bottle and cap on only when you revved it up please help thanks *-) Link to post Share on other sites

daniles 0 Posted September 14, 2006 Report Share Posted September 14, 2006 If your head gasket has gone you would be seeing oil as well my guess is if it's coming from the belt side around the alternator its most likely a seized water pump. New water pump about £30 eurocarparts labour time no more than two hours, but it probably will need a mechanic to do it as you have to release the two back engine mounts and jack the engine up to get to it.
