tracey drafz......asks this top buzz question.cant wait to get all your opinions.i drive a vr6 its my hubbies but he lets me play out in it.i always get civic type rs n in things wanting to race.the only thing ive raced proper so far is a v5 and he couldnt get away.dropping it to second and giving it your best shot really does get the old ticker going.11o is my best so far but am gettin better with practice.come on give me your views.td.

with practice you'll be able to WASTE type r's. they're crap. Get a good start from them and they'll give up halfway through. Had a go with a V5 once, i was gaining on him but as usual traffic ahead stopped us continuing. I always get the mk4 GTI's trying it on with me, but im more scared of the TDI's !

So you've got it up to 110 ? not bad at all mate, i've had 130, not much left but top speed doesn't really interest me, acceleration does it for me. Although top speed is good on motorways etc when people dont get out of you way

I don't really think it matters if you are a bird or a bloke' date=' if you can controll a car and you have the guts you can drive fast. With power steering it is no longer a task at the wheel so why not?

Keep goin for it IMO[/quote']

i agree with the first part but doesnt power steering dull the feel through the wheel my golf certainly isnt amazin in the steerin feel department its got great grip and turns in quite well but not alot of feel

if you can drive you can drive, regardless of gender.

but, and no offnce meant to anyone, i've only ever come across one girl who could drive properly...and i mean drive fast, to the limit of the car, but not over, with the right amount of respect and appreciation for what a vehicla can and can't do.

every other girl i've seen drive is either quite nervous and slow, or are down right reckless (they have absolutly no idea what a car can and can't do, they think it'll go round a corner at any speed they want it to and don't know anything about keeping the car settled and composed...they worst bit is these girls also seem to have a huge ego about their driving and think they are absolutly brilliant, and they also show a serious lack of concentration and respect for it....the only word to describe their driving is dangerous.

in fact, i was talklin to one of the formula women instructors and they said that guys tend to be able to give a fairly realistic assessment of their driving skills, but most of the women who went for the trials were a lot worse than they thought they were...and argued when told the truth!

anyway, vr6's aren't actually the easiest car to drive fast...motorway driving exempt..they'll bite you on a country road if you ain't careful (presuming standard suspension here), cause they tend to be moving a lot faster than it seems. but you should be able to get way over 140 indicated on the motrway without too much hassle....but look a long way ahead cause 140 is very very fast and things in the distance will be on top of you very soon...and you can't take quick avasive action at those speeds.

most of our vrs hav better suspension on iv never driven a vr with standerd suspension but can imagine they float float a boat i consoder myself to be a LITTLE better than average driver purely cuz i seem to b a bit above average at most things but im under no illusion about bein the next schumacher i reckon u should always hav slow/crap cars when u pass ur test (i think the test is crap doesnt teach anythin about real drivn ie road manners motorways etc but it is better than nothin) u pass ur test THEN u learn how to drive and if u hav a shed u can learn what cars will and wont do with less risk losin it at 30mph is a lot less dangerous than 60 mph i havnt tried to really lean on he vr once yet il only drive well within myself its rapid enough not to need to rass its arse off on twisties (straight lines a diff matter hehe but that doesnt require any skill u just hav to look everywhere and make sure u hav an idea whos doin what it gets intrestin when som1 pulls out on u and ur doin 60-70 mph more) thats my 2 pence worth anyway

Agreed mate, my point was that older cars with heavier steering may have been harder for the not so butch ladies, although I suppose steering wasn't as heavy at higher speeds.

And yes they do float like a boat with standard suspension, but now i've had the car for a bit and getting used to it ihas quite a lot more grip than I first realised :)

totally agree that you need to build up. although i find it quite amusing that i had to try really hard to drive my first car on the limit (1.3 nova)' date=' but if i hop into one now its totally effortless and easy to drive right on the edge![/color']

the golf mkIII actually has really good steerin feel for PAS, compared to most cars. i certainly no whats going on with my wheels. poly wishbone bushes made it even better as well...i recommend. mkII golfs are interesting for me, people always moan about how they have more feel with manual steering, but the non-pas is so unresponsive (takes about one full lock to go round a gentle curve) that even though you feel the limit better, when it lets go you don't have enough time to add the excessive amount of lock necessary...and theres no hope if you over correct! the pas mkII's have a much quicker rack...its lesser of an evil to loose a little bit of feel, cause you can control the car better.

vr6's are pretty dangerous with standard suspension. its impossible to be accurate with the front end at speed. a set of springs makes a huge difference, they also benefit IMO from adding some camber.

doesnt lowerin ad a bit of camber? iv got uprated suspeneion and it feels really planted i did 145mph last night and it felt totally settled even on a curve/bend (well it is a bend at that speed lol) PS

quick steerin racks r much much better imo and it does hav ecxellent front end grip even under power

does on most cars, but the vr6 needs the camber resting after lowering, and most set it to standard. i run as much camber as the slots in the strut allow. some may find the car twitchy, and nervous...but thats how i like it. mines a bit OTT at the mo as the new rear tyres haven't bedded in, and the rear got unsettled at 120mph on a slight curve yesterday...hehe

quick racks are great, i believe they do actually do one for a vr6...but have only used one in a nova so far. worth noting that the more responsive the steering the smoother you have to be with the wheel though.

at the mo i can't really brake hard at high speed unless i'm going dead straight...or it gets very very skitish, feels like it'll swap ends.

but having said that, i just got back from getting the 'box and it felt much better...and i was really giving it some down fast A roads. so i think the tyres are coming in now :)

Yes girls can drive fast, i agree not all can.....i love nothing more than showing smart people that pull up at the lights what the vr can do.. :D ....i think alot of them think just because theres a woman behind the wheel there scared of using the power.....NOT true....i have had the clock reading 150mph, while i was following a skyline....he was doing 165mph and he was impressed with my driving.....im not scared of using the power or driving fast, i totally enjoy it but also know how to respect the car and what it can and cant do.....just scared of being caught for speeding thats my only fear....I drove his skyline back from oxford yesterday and the looks and amount of people i had burn past me cos it was a woman driving a skyline.... :P ..lol did stick my foot down in that to but not like i would in the VR as i dont know the car well enouth yet only driven it a few times and also being rear wheel drive its a totally different story.... :D
