SUMMER 2006 NURBURG RING CRUISE WEEKEND

Recommended Posts

I suggest the leisure centre in town' date=' which is just before the last roundabout before you hit the eastern dock. [/quote']

Sounds good to me.

I've booked a place in the Russel St. car park for the duration as I'm not driving all the way to Germany.

  • 2 weeks later...

I reckon we wanna be meeting at 6am at the leisure centre - people will always be late and we need to be there 30 mins at least before we set sail and thats at 7am so I reckon a 6am meet - sharp! Not sure of the route yet, I dont know of a place to stop really - how about the 1st services inside Germany? Were only in Holland for a few miles

Anyone got route planner handy?

it's better to stop in germany for fuel, it's cheaper, and the shell in germany has v-power 100 octane, not to be confused whit v-power in holland/belgium that has octane 95/97!!!

let me know what route you'll be taking so i can meet up whit you guy's.

To us English, anywhere has cheap petrol!

As for petrol on route, there's petrol convienient to the ferry port in Bologne but last time I couldn't make it accept any of my cards so some Euros would be good. The cheapest is at Citie Europe, Calais, not too far off the A16, although it's only of a get you there grade ;-) They take English CREDIT cards only.

I'm right in the mood, now I've got my camping head on after Ed38 and have been for a spin in what will be J5KEX.

there was an official letter from the GmbH to the tourist drivers on

touristenfahrer.de written by Manfred Strack

Translation by Johannes.

"Dear fans of the Nordschleife,

tourist driving on the Nordschleife is unique in the world, which makes

us proud. It makes the longest and most beautiful track of the world

available to as many people as possible. The TF exist from the

beginning, since almost 80 years, and they are a constant in the

leisure time of many motorsport enthusiasts and visitors of the Eifel

region.

First of all, driving on the Nordschleife during TF should be fun. And

it has to be as safe as possible. The Nordschleife is a public road

during TF (even if that is discussed and sometimes denied), during which

clear rules must exist to guarantee as much fun and safety as possible.

Our employed and voluntary marshals and the police are responsible for

the observation of these rules, and for making sure that the conditions

on the track make it a positive experience for everyone. Please support

our employees in doing their duty, because it's in the interest of all

of us.

We know that most of you are responsible drivers who just like driving

on the Nordschleife. Also when it's a bit faster within the rules.

Problems occur when individual people overrate their or their car's

abilities or have no respect for others. These drivers intentionally

take unnecessary risks and often violate rules. Because of our domestic

authority, in such cases certain regulations apply. Punishments for the

wilful violation of our rules vary from hourly or daily bans to the

revocation of the JK or a report to the police. The ones who aren't

familiar with our rules can refer to them on our homepage

(http://www.nuerburgring.de/) and on the flyers that are displayed at

the entrance.

The majority of you sticks to the rules. But those who don't pay

attention to them will have to face drastic punishments. Our marshals

have the necessary authority for that. During our permanent safety

considerations the compliance to the rules will be monitored and

offences will be punished (e.g. bans will be spoken out more and earlier

than before). For this purpose we have raised the number of voluntary

marshals to improve the observation of the traffic.

Instead of working against each other and blaming the Nuerburgring GmbH

over and over again, we should try to work together. The meeting at the

beginning of July in the "Altes Forsthaus" will not be the last one. A

part of the recommendations that we got there will be implemented during

the next time.

If there are further suggestions, please inform me (Manfred Strack from

the GmbH). Every proposal will be checked and there will be a response.

The Nuerburgring GmbH is not as arrogant as many might think.

So, be fair and have fun on the nicest track of the world."

the weather (#)

NIEDERSCHLAG

Menge 0 l/m²

Risiko 3 %

Luftfeuchtigkeit 52 %

In english ;) ?

Scorchio!

3% chance of rain falling at the rate of zero litres / m2 and 52% humidity.

Now I am excited, should be perfect weather for filming, from the trackside obviously ;-)

Yeah but I think I'll find it easier to get out of bed knowing Im going to the ring than going to work! Just had my exhaust put straight, new tyres going on tomorrow and a wash/polish on Friday night & Im sorted.

Hopefully we'll get to the ring in time to setup tents etc before the track opens at 5pm - I reckon we'll get there about 2ish, if we do it after the track closes it'll be getting dark I think & we'll have less drinking time :0)

I've borroed a tiny wireless cam from work, gonna test it on the car tonight - only does black & white with no sound tho but its better than nothing, gonna stick it in the area under the number plate

Nah mine doesnt use an SD card, uses XD I think. Is everyone cool for meeting at 6am at the lesiure centre in Dover then? Im filling up before I get on the ferry so I dont have to find a petrol station when I get off the ferry, that way I wont have to fill up to Belgium hopefully - gonna grab some breakfast on the move aswell probably with my 1st fill up.

Dont forget ferry confirmations and passports :0)
