  1. She was mapped Tuesday, she held well up to 1.4bar at 451bhp then blew a silicone off the turbo. We put the jubilee back on and another for good measure and carried on.

From then on the car would not make the same power. We believe a gasket could have gone at the same time.

The inlet has gasket paper so we think it could be that.

The other little issue is on idle the car is over revving on its own, we are not sure why. The mapper tweaked a few bits but it is still happening.

Since then, last night I took the motor out and done some pulls with VCDS plugged in, the throttle is sitting at 5-7% when the car is idling on its own up to 2500rpm which is pointing to a air leak, Pressure tested it and it wasn't holding pressure or the tyre pump at the garage was shot.

Tried to smoke test it but couldn't get any smoke out the break booster pipe when I took it off so not sure whats the crack there as the throttle should be at 3% with ignition on.

Next step is take the SRI off and Throttle Body, bin the paper gaskets and Silicone them up.

Need to order a new Recirc Valve as my mapper was not impressed with the cheap eBay crap I installed ;) Any advice on which Recirc Valve to go with? Dual 710N's was my idea but they blow alot. Ideally 34mm or 40mm inlet/outlet.

  2. Ok, so this is going to be interesting for me as I am wondering which cars my engine would be easiest to swap into.

    The engine is 24V 2.8 vr6 from a mk4 V6 4mo.

I am interested in which newer cars with newer gen haldex i would be able to swap this into.

I know i can swap from mk4 golf, audi TT mk1, Audi A3 8L, Audi A4, Cupra etc.. earlier models basically.

If anyone has done this please inform of what you have swapped and how hard it was/details on what you had to do regarding the newer gen haldex.

I would be going standalone as it will be fully forged and turbo.

    Thanks guys.

  3. I thought I would put my photos/videos up from my AUE V6 Turbo build because there is not enough info on the AUE engine out there. Power target is 500bhp, if I can get more safely and practically it will be going up. I've seen a stock motor get 474whp/576bhp on YouTube, be interesting to see if it is achievable. My engine is not forged.

If anyone is interested in the build let me know and I will do a spec.

Also ask any questions you want, I am happy to answer.

The car is going to Stealth Racing UK next week for stock management (ME7.1) mapping, I started this build around 4 weeks ago. R32 Side skirts are being left off as Stealth Racings Dyno is risen from floor level.

The kit does need a respray at some point and the Aristo wheels will be going black. The current wheels have Rainsport 3 tyres on which are nearly new so ill be using those over the winter and then put the Aristo's on next year.

335i is my daily at the moment ;)

  4. I have a V6 4mo Turbo with a R32 kit on.

I am building the exhaust myself but just curious how others exhaust routes for the same situation look.

Going 3" turbo back with 1no 18" silencer. I am passed the rear sub frame now but wondering how you routed the rear pipes out and if you used tips or straight pipe.

    cheers

One pic is my undercarriage without the exhaust on and the other is my V6T in production a couple weeks back.

All ME7 is fundamentally the same to a large degree, just various evolutions and parts differences of course, this in turn adds maps/data and changes a few things.

AUE/Early 2.8 24v models have Inlet cam timing but no exhaust, Nokenwellen Einlass maps are there (NW-E abbrv. you should get used to), Auslass (NW-A) are not, generally everything else pretty much the same. Values will change due to a lack of input data when there are maps missing - if trying to define you need to look at axis data rather than cell data if using, for example, a dual VVT def file or R32.

BDE/BDF - late 24v's had both inlet and exhaust cam timing, I think the differences between these are number of 02's due to exhaust differences, but never really done anything with BDF apart from some quick def's.

BFH R32 MK4 - Pretty much the same as BDE only obviously the displacement changes make differences, max torque across CAN etc are upped so some values different like that. They used larger parts like MAF so HFM map values/limit's different, low flow rates etc - flow across throttle body and general flow/tb/maf related values are changed due to this.

MK5 R32 - Part changes and increased limit's as above really, slight variances again in torque limit values across can and things like that, cam maps, homo/stratified injection - general evolution of maps there, some other things I can't think of the moment.

AUDI TT - Both mk1 and mk2 TT's use different HFM main maps like Porsche use on the ME7.8 and later ME9 stuff which in turn changes the structure of some maps, A3 ecu's I have done matched the mk5 one's though - everything else I think was pretty much the same as mk5.

DSG/Auto v Manual - if doing an engine swap with gearbox change you should use an ecu with that gearbox as you can get all sorts of pedal/flow/rpm play ups, use the ecu for the gearbox is the easiest way really.

    That's just some off the top of my head, but even with these kind's of evolutions, the vast majority of data is fundamentally the same or similar, not sure where I "stated they are all the same" as I have always said AUE are inlet vvt but it's what you can see on the screenshots in the backgrounds or map data shown;

Example - HFM (maf) variances as stock - MLHFM main map flow kg/hr and min flow; BDE v BFH v BUB

    MLHFM & Min mass V6 R32 mk4 mk5

    In terms of data stacking/location, as they are all C166 evolutions they are very similar, like the background's in the screenshots as opposed to, in this case, individual data in a cell;

    KUMSRL Conversion mass flow

So they are very similar and yet can be different, but no, no special differences between any 2.8's, just some market variances, part/ecu evolutions and more or less data to play with ultimately!

OK so in this case, I can get a tuner to flash my ECU for my engine much the same as the BDE?

Take UnitedMotorsports for example, I can I a UM flash for my car and build the car to the supporting mods? Is this availabile?

    Thanks

Just a quick google and it looks like Vince @ stealth can help with the map. Drop him a line.

Yeah I've tried to contact them but not had a reply unfortunately, thanks though.

I'm interested in others who have used ECU flash or Megasquirt for their builds on the AUE 24v block if anyone has done this.

    Cheers

  7. I know his is an old thread and this is a lot of information that I need to read a lot more detailed however I have been informed that the AUE engine is not as easy to mod and it is non VVT. Is this correct?

If so what route is best to take with this engine. I am only asking here as you have stated all 24v variants are the same.

    Thank you

  8. Hello Gents and Ladies,

    I have a 2001 mk4 golf VR6 24v, AUE engine code.

I am shooting for 450-500bhp on stock internals, except decomp plate & ARP head studs. Turbo will be along the lines of GT35.

I am interested in anyone else's setups / part list and where you got your parts, any reputable companies you have used.

I will be building the engine myself.

I am in the UK (if you hadn't noticed) and will be having my ECU flashed with a UM.. would this be doable on the AUE or would I have to go MS3?

I appreciate any help/information but don't appreciate BS.

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Hello VR6OC,

    I have recently purchased a 2.8 V6 24V AUE 2001 and i am looking to going 450-500bhp with GT35R or similar.

I have got a shopping list all sorted but i thought i may try my luck if anyone has any spare parts on here to offer.

Please let me know what you have and what you would like for it.

I am based in Essex, UK.

    Cheers
