Will I lose a noticeable amount? Do you have any videos of the sound at all?

I have had my resonator and suitcase removed from my mk3 Golf VR6, now it is just the cat and a Scorpion muffler. The muffler sounds lame, so I was wondering if I remove it and had just the cat/straight pipe, would this affect performance at all? I can't seem to find any videos of VR6s with straight pipes without removing catalytic converters.

Hello, I recently purchased a vr6 and it runs fine, although I briefly had smoke come through my heater vents which smelt like burning plastic. I suspect it is my heater core but it doesn't always do this when the heater is on? Also, white steam/smoke comes from under the bonnet by the manifold which smells the same. Could this just be a leaking part of my exhaust or definitely heater core?
