With these things you do get what you pay for with features/ functions etc.. Personally I have a WiFi (OBD 2) dongle bought off eBay connected to the "Dash Command" iPhone app (available on iPhone and iPad.) (You can also purchase Bluetooth dongles if you have an Android phone/ tablet.) It works perfectly well to check read and clear most DTC's (but it won't do everything.) You can also buy a version of the VAGCOM/ VCDS cable on eBay and use the free VCDS Lite software. I personally don't have this so can't tell you how good it is plus you have to plug it into a laptop/ computer. HTH.

Thanks for all your replies. I'll start this post by saying I agree the Mk3 VR6 is the original and best. Now on my meager purchasing budget a Mk4 R32 is out of reach financially and I just don't want to give in an buy a Mk4 GT TDI PD130. So to keep it petrol the Mk4 2.8 V6 4motion interests me more than another 1.8 20V T engined car (I've owned 3.) However I keep questioning why a Mk4 with a good spec, engine and 4motion is available for such a reasonable price? I know it being a V6 and 4motion will be part of the reason but my research also came up with the cam timing set being the oth

daveyboy I love that for a straight to the point answer "Yes." Big J I am very tempted but I've been steered to the Mk4 4motion for the haldex 4wd. Now the next question(s) are to any owners what do I need to look out for on a Mk4? ...AND are these V6 timing chains, guides and tensioners really a major factor/ problem?
