So not a great deal to report at the moment but managed to get the engine bay properly emptied and swapped the tyres from the RS' onto some steels to get the car back on all four wheels. And also had my steering UJ lengthened as apparently this one was suppose to be a manual one..... Obviously not! Slowly piecing together an old battered interior to put in the car whilst the cage is been fabbed up and sent more bits off to be carbon'd haha

Not a great deal but I have been getting the new subframe and suspension etc bolted up ready to mount the engine and gearbox. The engine is built up and the gearbox is nearing completion ready to take it to SS autowerks for a cage, turbo mani, intercooler pipework and coolant pipes fabbing up. My camera has broken on my phone but will try and get more updates soon. Also placed an order with a friend for lots of parts to be wrapped in carbon so will get pics of those as and when also

I've never really seen the point although it would be cool! There is a guy in the states who has done it if you want to search vwvortex [emoji106]

Finished removing the wiring, brakes, ABS, alarm and clutch pipes from the bay ready for the bodyshop. And also here are the new wheels I am getting built up as we speak, 17" 9j triple chrome plated with gold hardware
-
Well today was pretty productive, got the charged vr lump out along with the brake setup etc. Once the bay is completely stripped going to throw in the turbo long block with gearbox for mocking up for the sidewinder and boost pipework

Yeh sorry I forgot to mention that I have bought mk3 arms and hubs along with 5x100 spindles and mk3 ARB so mk2 stuff can be removed and sold [emoji106]

Well after much thought my original plans or using the rs' have changed and they are up for sale. Ordered some new wheels today so they have to go!

Hi everyone, Some of you will know my mk2 awd vr6 turbo build I had going on..... Well after a change of heart, a rethink of what I actually wanted and whilst scouring the Internet for a new daily I ended up looking in the mk3 section on edition and found a couple mk3 vr's that tickled my fancy. For those who know me I have always been a mk3 guy after owning two other gti's so when I saw Scott's supercharged vr for sale I made the journey south to Hastings to buy it. After a 5 hour train journey and a good chat with Scott I bought the car and made the 5 hour journey home (m25 and m11 are a nig

Thanks a lot! Not a great deal happening at the moment due to work etc. when I get some spare time again starting next week I'll be getting the rear end finished and gearbox built up. Started swapping the diesel gearing into the DRP 02m gearbox but the input shaft has a normal roller bearing, whereas the petrol I out shaft had a tapered roller bearing so I'm having to get the shaft machined for the taper roller bearing amongst other things. Wasn't quite as easy as I thought it was going to be but never mind.

Thanks a lot mate and thanks Michael for the feature means a lot

Thanks for the info mate I was going to buy the parts separately and make my own but I'll look into them cheers!

Yeh you got it mate, and also the schimmel one provides clean oil from the housing whereas the standard housing doesn't (if that even makes a difference) haha Not had an update for a while, I finished the engine bay but wasn't happy with the results so it's off to the bodyshop beginning of August for everything to be finished. Since the last update I have a larger gearbox tunnel ready to weld in ready for the prop shaft And I have stripped the interior completely and started welding the mounts to the body for the rear haldex cradle Just have the rear box section to weld in for the rear mo

After a lot more sanding and primer I thought it was time for some colour so after running out of thinners and my gun packing up (which is now fixed) I managed to shoot a coat of colour onto the bay, still more standing to do after this but getting a lot closer Also bought a FSM code 02m which is out of an Ibiza pd130 which I'll be using the final drives along with my DRP case and gear set
-
Finished sanding back the bed liner and sprayed all the engine bay in two coats of high build primer, a little more sanding and one more coat it should be ready for colour
-
Bit of a late update but I have taken the plunge and I'm going to be fitting a complete haldex conversion into the car. I have bought the complete running gear out of an Audi s3 and will hopefully be collecting a shortened haldex rear cradle which is fully polybushed and the correct width for a mk2 Also sprayed the bay in a coat of high build primer ready to work on it again on Wednesday.

Only a little update I'm afraid, got most of the engine bay in high build primer but finished late and the lighting Is rubbish for a picture. My dutchbuild front engine mount arrived today and very pleased with it.
-
Got the bay grinded down and first lot of filler laid down, sanded and quickly etch primed so I can see what else needs doing, been a productive few days but a long way to go yet Came home to find these though Schimmel oil filter housing so I only get clean oil to the turbo and can use spin on filters along with their short runner ht leads

Last few days I had been thinking long and hard over the engine bay and whether I had done the best job I could of done and the answer was no lol So with that I have decided to flat back the bed liner and spray it properly with the new car colour, but since I was starting to put a lot of effort back into the engine bay things spiralled and so I have now been welding up all the holes on the firewall including the heater box, brake servo etc Progress is slow but I feel as if the engine bay deserves some colour and I will feel better every time I open the bonnet

Well I didn't get any pictures but my cylinder head is away at the machine shop getting the new seats and big valve head kit installed, they have also taken the 02m diff to drill the rivets out the crown wheel and also reinforce the shift forks. I have ordered a wavetrac diff with ARP hardware from my good friend Matt at onlychargeddubs so will get pictures on the rebuild.

I wish I had read this before starting work on the car today but never mind I can strip the alternator and bracket back down next time I'm working on the engine, I'm not an electrician so never gave it a thought haha Started building the engine up again today, got the oil pump bolted up and sump on and then built up the crank and flywheel ends of the engine. I then finished off with the accessory bracket and water pump.
-
Finished painting up a few pieces today but lots more to go....
-
Not really a great update but I'm currently spraying up lots of parts and also these arrived so I can finish building my engine Got a 2mm TT big valve kit, under drive pulley setup and some DRC 268 cams Also bought this so I can ditch the brake servo and clutch master cylinder

Well today I didn't do a great deal as my arm is still recovering but I welded my turbo oil return bung onto my sump and give it a lick of paint.
