  1. Good news, I borrowed a local garage while they were quiet in exchange for some beers. Beam tester shows that the pattern is perfect and the height is good so no adjustment needed. Also got her up on their ramp and managed to unplug the dayglo resistor properly. Bad news is I need to relocate one of the ballasts as its getting quite hot where it is now, shouldn't be too much of a problem I hope. Does anyone know of any good heat proofing material I could use to protect the ballast a bit more?
  2. Ah thanks, thats useful. I did find a yellow plug up under the car on the drivers side that is for the dayglo resistor as well. It was a bitch to get to and I didn't unclip it completely, but its disconnected it enough to disrupt the circuit and turn off the dim dips. So for now its functioning properly without taking the headlight switch out. I need to adjust the height of the beams but from what I've experienced so far the vertical adjusters are a nightmare to get to! I may take it in to Volkswagen for them to do, I hear the twisties break easily too. And while they're doing it maybe they ca
  3. This one: http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h1-55w-pro-max-xenon-hid-conversion-kit.html Although I'd imagine every kit would have this problem? As the sidelight mode sends less power to the bulb/ballast.
  4. I do have a new problem though, the sidelight setting normally runs the headlights at a really low brightness as well as the sidelights. Now that I've put HIDs in, they just flash when I set it to sidelights only. Is there a way of stopping them flashing or having them stay off on sidelight mode?
  5. My kit didn't have that much cable, no worries though. I got it sorted.
  6. Ive got quite an urgent issue, where's the best place to fit ballasts for a HID kit? Needs to be in the engine bay nearish the headlights.
  7. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not its possible to retrofit the coming home lights feature to a mk3 golf? I'm sure you all know what I mean, they come/stay on for 30 seconds or so when you lock or unlock the car. Whats the best way to go about this if its possible?
  8. Interesting, its been starting first time since I posted this! Maybe its just me. I'll see what develops and let you know.

    Why?

Sorry to hear that, the jealous pricks! Set up some CCTV on your drive or something.
  10. One more quick question: when you pull the keys out of the ignition, what does the little "beep boppy bop - beep boppy bop - beep boppy bop" signify?
  11. I had a word with him but hes got a lot of work on, and moving house at the moment. Sorry mate.
  12. This may seem veeeeery stupid, and it probably is, but sometimes I have a real problem getting my VR to actually start. And I don't mean a problem with the starter or engine. Sometimes when I turn the key, jack shit happens. The ignition comes on, lots of lights etc, but she doesn't start. And then after say 5 minutes fumbling around on the drive or in a car park (and looking like a car thief), the magic happens and that lovely purr kicks in. I have a Logic 900 alarm and immobiliser, is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong? I try re-arming and disarming the alarm, but I am yet to find any pa
  13. Sorry to hijack but its sort of related. I'm getting an electrical sort of whine whenever I let off the accelerator, its coming from somewhere in front of me. My grandparents owned the car since new and it hasn't made the noise all its life. What is it?
  14. Hi, I would like to fit some new door speakers into my VR but I don't want to cannibalise the wiring or the doors. The factory speakers connect with these little blocks. These are exactly what I need but the company doesn't ship to the UK: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_12071017/Speaker-Wiring-Harnesses.html?tp=3097 Anyone know where to get any?
