I just bought a 97 Jetta GLX VR6. The AUTOMATIC transmission doesnt want to shift out of first. It looks like they put a junker tranny in there just to get the car rolling. I figure if I'm going to spend the $1500+ to replace the transmission, torque converter, and valve body.. I might as well switch the damn thing to manual since I'd perfer to have a manual transmission anyway. What are your guys thoughts on replacing this transmission? I have read that in order to make the switch, it is also necessary to replace the starter and the entire front trans-axle. Are there any other parts that go a
