    Central locking broken, cant open petrol cap...... is there any way around this that does not involve taking to the garage?

    Got in me mk 3 this morning and switched the engine on and the dials made this funny sounds, reset back to zero then jumped up when I turned the engine on. Thought nothing of it until I switched the engine off and the dials stayed exactly where they were (engine temp, RPM, Speedo and petrol). Really bizarre, when i put my key back in and turn to "one" (engine electric on), it all shoots back to zero, re-sets then turn the key all the way to engine on and it goes back up to normal again. Does anyone know what this is. Also strange as the central locking also stopped working at the same

    Hi, I have a mk3 2.0 GTi - R reg and am struggling to find a lightbulb for the glovebox. Does anyone know what bulb fits i.e. size or item number etc. Thanks all I know this site is for VR6, I used to have a VR but downsized to a GTi to expanding family. I tried to join the GTI forum but find the website HORRENDOUSLY confusing and do love this form 1000 times more. ta

    Hi, had wet carpets recently, heater matrix has not split as not loosing water. Then when it was recently raining I noticed water dripping passenger side under the dash, How can this be happening, is a water line blocked somewhere? Any help would be appreciated

    Brought a 2nd hand thule on ebay, trying to find a good box to go on top but cant work out whether I want a box or bag similar to the Pic. Is the bag watertight and what is the capacity and make. Quite like the look of it

    Thanks for reply mate Where did ya buy it from, Thule direct? Is it easy to fit? Cost?And what model Thule product was it Need to get one asap due to expanding family and dont wanna sell me trusted Golf for an estate )

    I got a mk3 GTi and VR6 - am trying to fit a roof rack to my GTi but Halfords say they dont make/sell one. Surely you can get them for the mk3 - they say they are only available for the mk 3 estate? can anyone help?

    it has rained quite a bit recently so hopefully this is the problem. Where does the carpet lift without having to cut it? It it an easy job? and easy to fix if this is the prob?

    Hi - There is a damp smell in car and has been for a while and noticed a slight damp patch on rear passenger foot-well. Thought the heater matrix split (as this happened in my last car) - but have no water leak in car and have never had to top the water up - this has been the case for a few months - Can it be anything else? its driving me bonkers ?

    my elec window wont go up on me mark 3. deff broken, mechanism is fine just elec issue with regulator. Any way I can take panel off and wind window up . Done really have the money to take it to a garage and its a back window so not to bothered if it doesn't work ever again, just want it up incase it rains. Any help would be appreciated Thansk

    Brill - thanks bud, its funny cus the boot mechanism randomly sometimes sounds like its *Struggling* and "Humms" for a few minutes before it eventually stops when central locking is pressed so maybe its on its way out. If it cud also be the battery, why does it affect the windows? Also, why does the central locking affect the windows?

    Help - when I went to me Vr in the morning yesterday the drivers window was wide open, stuck me head through the car and set the alarm off, luckly it wasnt a windy night last night otherwise i expect it wud of been going off all night. I assumed it was just my misses forgetting to lock it last night or close the window. Got home today, parked the car and just now alarm started going off again (about 1 hour after it was parked), went outside and windows were wide open Why are they opening randomly after she is locked with the key fob - would really appreciate help on this as am worried this w

    car sometimes doesnt start, but always starts from a Jump lead. strange thing is all the lights work fine, wipers work fine, all electrical works fine and some1told me it wouldnt if battery was on it way electrical things like the wiper and lights wudnt work. AM thinking the battery hasnt enough power to tick engine over but enough power to make eberything else work or is is a problem with the alternator? U always hear the startermotor click when turninghte key but nothing after that (battery is about 2 years old aswell which isnt that much)

    Got a 93 vr6 and am buying an R reg gti... Will the lights from the VR fit on the gti or are the connectors different?

    Ok will do nice1. Will a mechanic know how to bypass it or can I do it myself... (don't even know where the matrix is)
