  1. Its been really hot here the last couple of days here in NC and I am having a problem with the A/C blowing cold air. It occasionally blows cold air but for only a few seconds. I picked up a charging kit from my local parts store and went to fill it but I cant seem to find the A/C low pressure switch that controls the compressor. The kit says the compressor has to be on but in order to do that I need to find that sensor in order to jump it and make that happen. I have looked in the Hans book and the Bentely book and both indicate how to do it and what the sensor looks like I just cant seem to l
  2. I wanted to give everyone an update because you guys have been so helpful. I finally got the car scanned with one of those generic scanners and after several hours of research I came to the conclusion that the part giving me a problem was the engine speed sensor, otherwise known as the crank sensor. I replaced it and the car fired right up. I do have some other codes now but they all seem to be related to a "short to ground" whatever that means. I want take this time to thank each and everyone of you who have thrown ideas my way. I really appreciate the help. Thank you.
  3. I am now wondering what a classic car show would consist of on your side of the pond. Any shows like this that come to your guys part of the world?
  4. There was some very nice cars there, and imagine that almost everyone of them was for sale or trade.
  5. I would asssume the starter motor is getting juice because it does turn over as you can hear in the video, but I will check that as well with my meter, at this point I am not ruling anything out.
  6. Grant it these photos are not of anything with a VR6 in them or European at all but I still thought you guys would enjoy these as well. These are from a local classic car show that comes to Charlotte, NC once a year. Hope you enjoy. Here is the link.
  7. All fuses are good, connectinos are as well, no corrosion or damaged pins. That is my next step bigjobbo, I am going to borrow a reader and see what it says.
  8. The reason I decided to change the plugs was when I got the car home I took them out and noticed that they were pretty warn and the previous owner had 3 different spark plugs out of the 6. I replaced with a pair of NGK, but nothing still. I think there maybe some sort of ignition problem that I cant pin point at this moment. I am going to test the spark plug wires with an ohm meter and see if there is anything there. I would also like to test the ignition coil the same way but I am not sure how to do that. If anyone can point me in the direction for that that would be most helpful. Other than
  9. Bungy. Fuel is not an issue I can smell it on the new plugs when I remove them. I only replaced one plug at a time and so there was never more than one spark plug wire off of the coil pack at once, and it went back to the same location as it came from. I dont think the car is immobilized because when you put the key in the ignition and turn it on, you do get the little yellow light that is a car with a key on it for a second and then it goes off. This thing has me stumped.
  10. Fellow members. I am needing a little help or a nudge in the right direction. I have a MK4 Jetta and have recently done some maintenance work on it which includes a new radiator, battery and spark plugs. The car ran perfectly except for a leaking radiator, which is the reason that was replaced. I figured while I might as well do some gerneral maintenace as well which is why the plugs and battery were replaced. All sensors have be checked and rechecked. All spark plug wires are seated properly and there are very strong grounds to the battery. After getting it all back together the car wont star
  11. Bungy, I think your right about the supercharger deal. I think there needs to be a big intercooler and piping behind the mesh grill. I am going to have to look into get one of those. You have helped to spark a new found interest.
  12. Thanks VR6 Nat. I was worried they didnt turn out as well as I would have hoped becuase I brought the wrong camera lens with me and had to improvise on some of the shots.
  13. Bungy a charger would be nice just kind of pricy for this car, I may get around to it one day. I have ridden in one with a VF Engineering Stage One kit in it and it was kind of scary to be honest. What you coming to the states for later in the year, if you dont mind me asking?
  14. I think I just found my second love. That is one sexy car. Great job and congrats on the new place.
  15. I know it is customary for the new guy to post pictures of his ride so here is one of them. Keep in mind I am an ameature at best but I do welcome constructive critism. Enjoy.
