    hi can any of you help my poor baby has done her headgasket i have been to 2 vw garages who have turned it down and one independant who said 100's and 100's of pounds to do it, so being ok with motors and having done gasket on a ford v6 in the past thought i may give it a go myself, do any of you lovely folk have any hints and tips as well as some litriture for me to follow in laymans terms pleeeaasssee i cant let my baby car die yet she's only 14 yrs old, or if any of you know anyone in norwich area who could come give me a hand i would be most greatfull xxx

    where were you i looked for about an hour or so but to no avail, so gave up and started drinking again heyho, but i did see the chap in the boiler suit ravin next to me, great buzz at bugjam maybe i'll find you next time ;~

    after all that greaf the sweak was just the serpentine belt not being aligned so we are now ready to apart from it still slightly over revin on tick over its sittiong about 10-11,000 but thats fine i'll fix it after the weekend

    just one more question then i'll let you be, in order to stop my sqeek i need to change the altanator, so i dont look like a right numpty driving in to bugjam, my question is are all mk3 altanators the same as the vr6 or am i gonna have to find a vr6 specific one !!

    ok have now completed the clean and putting everything back together and yes i THINK it's worked just need to replace that part number 9 and we are ready to go other than a bit of a valet thankyou so much for your help xx see ya saturday

    i already had a look at the maf and am now setting about cleaning isv i will keep you posted and thanks for all your advice so far i will buy you a beer at bugjam if i get there lol

    right i have the wrong bit, where is this isv situated and whats a maf??? dont speak jargon to me i have no idea i am capable of doing it if i know what im looking for . LOL women!

    ok have now cleaned the trottle body and uit has made no differance whatsoever, could you send me a pic of the isv so iknow i have the right piece off i think i have but if its the part i think how do you clean it its a sealed unit, heeelllpp

    [ oh yes it only comes out on special occasions :) how did you get on with the car ? not very well i went to take the trottle bofy off and have discovered a plastic diaframy thing that gos from the top of the rocker cover to the air filter pipe and the trottle body, this is cracked and the idiot who owned it before had glued it and now its in pieces do you think this may be my problem and do you know what its called so i can get a new on

    my car has the square side indicators so dose that mean the reset trick wont work????
