  1. but i might take the cone off and give the maf filter a good spray with carb cleaner tomorrow sometime see if that clears it up a little.
  2. ok ill sort that out flyspeck i do have an after market air filter on it, which came with it when i bought it. Im actually having a problem with it at the minute like i said with the bad idling. i noticed theres another topic on here about finding an oily spark plug and ht lead which to my suprise i found on 1 of my plugs, the shortest one nearest to the coil pack. i ordered a new gasket today i dont know if the oily spark plug has anything to do with it but im guessing its running on 5 instead of 6. who knows ill have to wait and see.
  3. Ive been told the reason why my car is cutting out. aparently its due to the disconnection of the battery during the install and the ecu needs resetting or does it reset itself?
  4. tried putting a video on of me starting the car up and showing you how when it starts and the revs drop asthough its going to cut out but jumps back to just under 1k rpm. this hasnt got anything to do wit the cutting out has it?
  5. You can see from the picture above that its supposed to touch to complete the connection but how the tape is a temp measure until i get some proper electricans tape. am i doing it right?
  6. yes ill take a pic of it now, what ive done is connect the earth to the horn and connected the other side to the metal plate which i placed inbetween the wheel and the boss.. stay online ill pop out and take a pic right now.
  7. how do you check if a relay has gone? is it when the relay stays stone cold from running the engine ?
  8. the horn is meant to connect to a copper prong which situated on the wheel hub but when i connect the boss it doesnt make any contact with the copper prong.
  9. not alot. but i believe 100 percent youve found your problem. Its definately the gearbox without doubt, it will continuously make that noise until it goes. gearbox cost me 80 and to get it fitted costed me 220. but that was including a clutch too.
  10. same thing like it didnt do it when stationary, just sounded like it was supercharged lol.
  11. I had the same happen to my mk3 gti last year, the noise lasted about 3 months the whining noise turned out to be the gearbox on its way out, started the car one morning selected 1st to find the car wouldnt move. sourced a second hand one and brand new clutch all done.e
  12. Daz ... so i can drive around as it is for the minute then ?with just the earthing wire attacked?
  13. flyspeck i have the momo wheel on now, with the earth wire attacked to the horn and the boss plate. So i cant damage the car if i leave it like this for a little while until i find someon to do it can i?
