  1. Im pretty sure the galleries are the same its just the headbolts that are different? Once Ive picked them up I will get stripping and take some pics!
  2. Thats still on there, I take it you mean the one on ebay? Ive got an engine from my local vw/audi breakers its drop a valve and knackered the head up I was told, not really to bothered as long as the block is alright!
  3. Talk about a bargain...................... Ive managed to pick up an R32 head for £102 and a AUE engine for £200 that makes the perfect hybrid engine for £320 plus some petrol money! I believe someone in my other thread said that the head bolts are 2 different diameters? Will have to look into it when I get them, nothing a bit of machining cant sort out!
  4. I have my own bodyshop just started a month ago its quite a challenge at the moment!
  5. Because Im keeping it 4wd I have to be careful of the front shafts lining up all will become apparent in the next couple of weeks!
  6. Wow Paul, just sat here since I got home from work and read your thread from start to finish! Some awesome engineering skills buddy, its good to see home builds I love 'em! Well done so far and good luck for the future!
  7. Ive got it just about stripped now and drawn up a rollover/transport jig just need to get hold of some box section! Then I cut off the suspension top mounts flush so I can adjustable top mounts, I got a couple of pics but my phone run out of juice will get some more tomorrow but you get the idea! Cheers Mike
  8. So judging by the info, its best to stick with the smallest bore you can for reliability issues seeing as its going to be a track car! Would it be best off using the AUE engine so you have good wall strength from the block but the benefits of the flow from 24 valves, are the head internals the same on the AUE and R32?
  9. Cool, would I be able to get all bits from you i.e pistons, rods, cams, valves, turbo? Also what do you think of the omex 720 ecu for VR6 applications? Cheers Mike
  10. They use a special plate that they sell to bolt the two together! Im not too sure if its going to work yet, by my calculations it should fit but I will have all my parts to mock up by the end of next week!
  11. Cor a lot of info cheers guys! The reason for the rebore is the cylinders are not perfect so I will get away with the smallest bore I can! The block has done 98k if its the same engine, Im pretty sure its not as when I was taking it out all the plugs had tape and writing on them! Its hard work trying to learn a new engine, if it was a scooby I wouldnt need to ask all these silly questions!
  12. If you look at the 034 Motorsports site they have done it, or maybe it was a 4 motion engine?
  13. Ah I thought 2.9 would still have good wall thickness, I will stick with 2.8 but Im sure its going to need a slight overbore maybe 0.5 it has to be reliable for a whole seasons racing! The whole engine is being rebuilt and upgraded so I can hopefully expect around 700bhp-ish not sure which turbo to go for yet I think a GT35 will be at its limit at this power range! Might be a better idea to use a 24v head for flow, does an R32 head fit or do you have to use the 2.8 24v head? Cheers Mike
  14. Hi, As the title was wondering how much it would cost to have my blocked bored to 2.9 as Ive stripped it and its not in the best of shape so thought I might as well go the whole way! Also I was going to rebuild it with forged pistons, I take it if I go with the 2.9 bore I can use standard size corrado pistons? Any help would be great full! Cheers Mike
  15. I suppose theres always the konigsedder widearch kit but I think they look a bit dated now! Ive not seen much wide kits for the 3 to be honest, custom fab work seems the only way! Its what Im going to be doing on mine, a bit like a toned down version of the W12 golf!
  16. Mmmmm........... I wonder if you can get just the arches and skirts? Would save me a lot of time, I think I could get them to work but not the bumpers tho' !
  17. Ah yeah thats Baz, forgot about that one cheers Matty! So is an i5 defo longer than a VR6 then? Also he had his driveshafts at a bit of an angle to squeeze it all in, Im hoping to keep mine straight so I dont run into problems! We will see!
  18. Yeah thats what I was thinking as long as there is enough room between the engine and slam panel I can put the rad in the boot and make a twin intercooler either side of the engine and link it! To be honest Ive not long been into VW's been more of a jap guy hence the reason why I like time attack so much, but after getting a VR6 I loved the power delivery so that about turboing it! I looked at the space and thought it would be much better mounted longitudinally for more turbo clearance and a shorter run to the intercooler, reducing lag! Ive been reading about syncro, haldex and quattro running
  19. Hi, Had a look using the search but what size torx bit do you need to whip the head bolts out? Cheers Mike
  20. Just found this but its RWD just worried about the front shafts lining up! http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d126/frosfedrado/DSC01994.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.dubsinthebuff.com/forum/volkswagen-related/13717-rwd-corrado.html&usg=__UAEKMn0_tZ1d0sqlPLTqcbO75OE=&h=531&w=800&sz=169&hl=en&start=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=T5bL-V8uf8mliM:&tbnh=95&tbnw=143&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dvr6%2Blongitudinal%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26tbs%3Disch:1 Looks really good mounted that way tho' !
