VR6 TS (turbo supercharged) is it possible?
VR6-RR replied to VR6-RR's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Well I thought I could use a charger that produces constant power then the turbo would kick in afterwards with the two running together, but judging from the what has been said on here is that the charger would have to cut out before the turbo. I would like to get them working together but that brings another question of will the block cope with that sort of pressure? I am going to do it now that I have a company car, just don't how long it will take and I need to get all the info first. -

Hi Guys The past 5 days the car had a number of faults which I fixed, then yesterday I cleaned the ISV and put a new dizzy cap on, but now when I put it on vagcom it has come up with the fault: 00515 from which I can make out, the hall sender intermittent. I looked in the knowledge vault, there is a thread but no instructions. How can I clean and test it? I need some help, I have not driven it in the last 5 days and it is winding me up. Rich

Hi guys need some help, I have the 2.9 block in it, but I am still running the ecu from the 2.8. This is how I bought the car. Couple of questions 1. What problems will this cause e.g will the fuelling be wrong and burn more fuel? 2. Is it easy to to just replace it with the correct unit without re-programming anything? Any help is appreciated Rich

thanks mate, I will give that a go later before its get dark.

exactly what it says on the tin (well subject)! Earlier today, I tried to let somebody into the passenger door but it is refusing to open from the inside or from outside. Is there anyway of opening the door without cutting the door card? I thought I could open it using the key (owned car for 6 months, only ever used the key to start it!) but all it does is open and close the windows 8-) Any ideas other than paying a fortune to the aa. Thanks Rich

Not the sort of thing I would do. I'm going to get it serviced and tuned, and give it a week, its idling at about 550-600 rpm when warm. If that aint sorted it, just going to rebuild the bottom end and do what boostjunkie suggest with the crank and that.

I like the idea of thrashing it to kill it or cure it, but I thrash it all the time and it just gets worst. if I drive sensibly it not too bad. Dont know what oil its running going to change it, but dont know what brand any sugesstions? And if it is not the oiol, i'm going to assume bottom end rebuild.
-
Its oil smoke as I am topping up the oil, but I have not checked it since I got the car back. The car is on a J plate so it has a full de-cat.
-
I hope its not, just spent close to a grand getting the head done and other bits and pieces. And it looks like I might have to get the bottom end done as well. Is there any difference between the 2.8 and 2.9 valve guide seals? as the engine in the car was taken out and replaced with the 2.9, and I'm wondering if the that makes a difference.
-
Just need some clarification, just had the valve guide seals done and it it still smoking on the over run, especially when going down hill but not as bad as before. My mechanic said it is normal to smoke for a while and that it has been sitting in his garage for the last 5 weeks, but I'm not sure. And do I have drive it softly until its run in? Any info would be grateful. Richard

Hi guys, I need some help. my outer cv joint has a broken hub spindle. I have removed it from the hub, got the boot off, but for the life of me I cannot get the joint off. I need some advice. Its driving me nuts. Thanks Richard

So If I was to replace just the cv joint, that should be it or should I replace anything else as good practice? Just bought the car so I might as well spend the money on it now rather than later. Thanks Rikki

Driving home, and just as I was going round a right hand corner the front left hub spindle broke (did not know that at the time, it was just a grinding metal sound). Sitting behind the center cap was hub nut and remaining spindle. What I want to know is, can I just replace the spindle or do I have replace the whole wheel hub? Richard

Hi, has anyone got or tell me where to find valve guide fitting instructions? Someone told me that I can do this without removing the head. If this is true I might take a crack at it myself. Also what might I need to get the job done. Any help much appreciated. Richard
