    Hi. Have a VR6 golf 1998. Failed mot on abs light. Garage says the fault code showed was for a valve in the abs pump.....nothing simple for me as usual!! . Part number is 1H2614217E.

    i am in south wales in the valleys lol. 6 miles from caerphilly. Yep I agree this guy is trying to rip me off and I am praying its just the thermostat as I love this car. My husband tried to put new thermostat on himself but his hands are huge lol and its such a small space to work in!!! Now don't trust any garage and I used to work in one!!! Shame thats 200 miles away as I would have got one of the mechanics there to help me as I know I could trust them!! thanks for everyones help and comments

    Hi. got a 98 vr6 130,000 on clock. started spluttering when raining/damp so went to put new ht leads on - bonnet cable snapped!!!!! took to the garage and they (somehow) got into it and put new leads on and ordered me a new bonnet release cable. Car 50% better with new leads but not 100% so ordered new spark plugs. Took car for new bonnet cable bu they didn't get round to doing plugs. Drove car from garage about 1 mile up the road when temp soared up to 100+. stopped straight away and called them out.     husband just cleaned sensors at rear and still no joy. will the light come on anyway or will the ecu have to be reset?

    My husband is in my dad's gargae now stripping wheels down in the hope he can clean up sensors - bless him. He used to race a F2 sidecar and did all the mechanics so hoping he will be able to sort it for me!!!!!

    I am in south wales about 1 and half hour to 2 hours (depending on speed LOL from you. I am in mid glamorgan. This thing is driving me nuts as can't mot it till this is sorted and that means I will have to drive my husbands Mitsi delica 2.8TD automatic - not fun at all.

    D@Ver6 - in nelson near caerphilly. wondering whether the fluid from the bad shocks has knackered sensor. Not changed rings at all but my husband put new wheel bearing on and have had new shocks on recently on rear

    Got a R reg vr6, done 130,000. Abs light used to come on intermittantly (mostly when raining!). now light is permenantly on. Had new sensors about 2 years ago. Recently had to change shocks on the rear fro the second time as the new ones leaked all their fluid out. also changes wheel bearing on o/s/r and new discs and pads on front. The light came on permentantly after having newwst shocks put on. Mot out (o god I forgot), will they fail it coz of the light and any idea on the abs light. Love the car and it goes like stink but this year been having to replce lots!!
