  1. ncie snow pics mate' date=' dont think iv seen a bonnet vent like that, usually there in the wing....

    love you avatar btw!!!!!!

    is it lucy pinder?

    [/quote']

Yeah the vent is unusual, but its been done really well, even from the inside.

    It is pinder....nice :)

also, i checked, and they are the GTI aniversary rims mate, so you were correct, but they are limited edition, graphite and poilished !... i love em, but still thinking borbets !.. just cant decide !

  2. looking at the superchargr / turbo route probably at some point - hungry for power, and used to drive a tubby - miss the boost !

dont wanna do to much externally, as i like the way she looks, maybe drop her a bit more, and was thinking about getting some 16x9 borbet type A's on.

she is an ex-show car, so ive polished up all the engine as best i can, and the body has been de-seamed and fully re-painted.

Since ive owned her, ive just got the rims on, done the timing chains and heater matrix - 2 big jobs - full engine and dash out ! but worth it to keep her mint !

  3. best way to check for a spark, is to remove each lead from each plug in turn. undo the spark plug, and then plug the spark plug back into the lead (out of the engine)

Get someone to crank the engine while you hold the plug tip against the engine, (use pliars-dont hold it) you shoudl see a spark

this is a pretty basic methos, but it works. do this for each spark plug to teat

if they are ok, and your looking at chains, then check the top tensioner as a guide to how bad they are.

But at that sort of millage it might be owth doing the chains as a fail safe anyways (i have dont mine, and made no end of differance to the sound of the engine

If your timing is loose/ jumped, then new chains time !

  4. Ok, i am currently running 18†BBS rims on my mk3 and i wanna change these for the euro look Borbet A’s.

Now Ive looked at loads of threads about these wheels but just cant decide on 9†all round, or 9†on back and 7†on front

My arch’s have been rolled and i have loads of room on current wheels and am running coil overs, so can change hight.

Now i have the OBD1 engine, so i guess the smaller brakes ? – but will 9†go ???

Any one with pics of 9†all round ?

I dont wanna get the 7" and they look too small !

also, anyone know what offsets ill need for 9" all round if i go 4 it ?

    cheers

  5. I agree with you all in the fact that it looks chaep, its half the price of most kits out there, but half of me was like, f**k it, might be worth a bash, and the other half says no before i started !!

I was thinking the turbo looks cheap, but only running low boost, like 6 psi it could be fine ? surely any manufacturers turbo can run that sort of boost !

I was a bit worried when i emaield the company as asked "will it fit a dzzy VR", and they replied no. so i asked why not, and pointed them to another site (bahnbrenner), and then they emailed.. oh yes, actually they do fit !!

still cant decide, turbo or supercharge, ive read alot, and its an on going debate hey.

  6. Hi all

Im new to this site, and VR6's come to mention and am in need of a little advice. I think my motor needs new chains and guides etc. I have a slight rattle between 1200-2000 revs.

I have been looking at doing this myself, but also see a guy on here does the lot for £500. does he still do that - is he around ?

Does anyone know where is the best place to ge tthe chains and guides from ? is abroard an option?

I have been quoted over £1k from a local gargae to do the job, so that's a no !! but they said i will need new sprokets aswell ?!?! - does anyone know if this is required ?

Also, when i have the bonnet up, it always sounded like the rattle was fom the drivers side (UK) not from the chain side ?? and then i saw this thread about this damn serpentine tensioner ? could this be whats making the noice / rattle if that needs lubbing up ??

    thanks guys and girls

    and hello to all :)
