  1. I'm having a really strange issue with my 2000 (W) Bora 4mo.... Every so often, the power steering will stop functioning for a few seconds or a few minutes, only to come back on again if I carry on driving. I may be imagining this part, but it seems like it sometimes doesn't go as well as I expect it to (I do drive it quite hard) before the steering goes, and then when the steering comes back it has its full power back as well. The aircon continues to work, I imagine both the compressor and the power steering pump are on the same belt? The power steering fluid level seems fine. Anyone have any
  2. All of that sounds pretty achievable, except that I don't like the sound of the last part. Mine is not a coil on plug engine, and by the age must be Immo 2 rather than Immo 3, so I'd hazard a guess that the ECU won't play with the instrument cluster etc for the immobiliser. On the other hand, I understand it isn't all that complex to just completely defeat the immobiliser..? Alternately, if that is the only thing stopping the wiring loom fitting I could source and fit immo 3 dials... maybe even R32 ones...
  3. I have a Bora 4motion, and having seen what VR6Rich has done with his I feel all boring.... I've found myself a nice low milage R32 block from a mk5 golf, and I'm wondering how many issues I would have doing a transplant? Logic tells me that if people can get the audi version of the same into a Mk2, I should have minimal issues getting this into mine (which uses basically the same engine already right?) I'm guessing the ECU/immobiliser could be an issue? Will the Haldex unit continue to function correctly? Any major issues I should be aware of before buying the block? Thanks guys!
  4. And I really did place this in the wrong place as it should be in the "tuning" section :S Sorry!
  5. I wasn't sure if this should go in the 4motion specific section, but its not a 4wd question and I'm sure most of the same logic applies to exhaust brands for the 2.8 24v engine as the 12v! I've heard good things about Supersprint and they seem to be one of the few people that still have stock for the Bora as opposed to the Golf.... http://www.supersprint.com/a_prodotti.asp?modello=vwbor10 I have a feeling though, that without the centre box as on the OEM system this will be extremely loud - not really my objective! If I fitted this, with the decat pipe, how complex is it to deactivate the post
  6. Very true, but a centrifugal supercharger doesn't develop appreciable boost at low RPM. Its boost threshold is always within a 1500 or so RPM of redline. A roots or screw supercharger is compressing air as soon as it is turning...
  7. Does anyone know of any supercharging options other than the centrifugal type? A roots or screw supercharger, with that lovely whine, and the much wider operating range, would be an interesting option.... Or even something like adapting a G60, or maybe two G40s? I know it would kill fuel consumption but I don't think any of us bought a 6 cylinder engine for the MPG, it could require a spacer to reduce the compression ratio of the engine slightly to prevent knocking tho....
  8. I thought using an oiled filter could cause issues for the MAF? Or have I imagined that from somewhere?
  9. I'll be coming, and probably bringing others (trying to persuade my friend to buy a mk3 VR6 atm...)
  10. I'd sell my (future) firstborn son for one!! They seem pretty hard to find tho It was fun, I'll definitely be at the next one!
  11. Did anyone get copies of the .pdf files?
  12. Was very fun, thanks for welcoming the new guy! Some *really* nice cars there, my only problem is now I am going to end up spending far too much on mine
  13. I've never been to the nurburgring but I would LOVE to go...... I wonder how many millions it would cost me in fuel hehe....
  14. This is where I find my car is only putting out 150bhp or something.... heh.... Should be fun tho!
