arrrgh whats the noise!!!
hopefulVR6owner replied to kie_dub's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
just a thought i had a rattle on a previous car under hard acceleration turned out to be the engine pinking!!! so after a couple of weeks of thought and diagnostics could only put it down to poor fuel so ran red x injector cleaner through it and used shell fuel only ever since! never done it again. -
checked for leaks and found no holes but replaced a couple of the small pipes anyway

i am having a problem with my 2000 passat tdi just wondered if any general dubbers would know? it has a major lack of power all through out the rev range in all gears, as if the turbo is being stopped from boosting. it is still whistling but no power. i am a bit low on money at the mo as i ahve just moved house. any help would be much appreciated as i am now having to use my vr to get to work and back and with the fuel prices as high as they are it is hitting me in the pocket

yeah thats what im on about. wasnt best described sos. i dont want no ridiculous mesh type but something thats a bit more sporty looking than the original type as i need a pair and wondered if there were any alternatives that i could just slip in rather than making a hash of it trying to make my own that end up looking rubbish! lol

can anyone help? i have just had to replace my front bumper and would also like to fit some mesh type but cannot find any. i probably havent been looking hard enough but if anyone knows where i can find some it would be much appreciated!

just sprayed mine took 10 mins but be careful to silicone it back on the face fit side cos i didnt to start with and water came in through the bolt holes.you cant compare a permanent fix of spray for £3.50 to a constant top up of bumper gel at £5 a bottle

must just have been luck but when i got mine it had metal impellers. someone said to me that it would have plastic impellers but it didnt and as it fitted straight in i didnt think nothing more of it. -

YEAH AS ABOVE I HAD TO DO MINE 2 WEEKS AGO. WHEN MINE STARTED TO GO I HEARD A RATTLING NOISE BUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE CHAINS STARTING TO RATTLE COS IT CLEARED AFTER A WHILE BUT AFTER A WEEK OF RATTLING IT FINALLY GAVE WAY SO YOU DONT WANT TO LEAVE IT TOO LONG. TOOK 45 MINS INCLUDING BLEEDING COOLANT SYSTEM. YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE PUMP ONLY COSTS £25 - £35. OBVIOUSLY RENEW ANTI FREEZE AND IF YOUR FEELING RICH JUST ASWELL REPLACE THE BELT. -
i have now owned my vr6 for a couple of months now and have only used shell optimum but last weekend i filled with regular esso unleaded (as shell garage closed) and this past week haven't seemed to have used as much fuel as normal. but i do near enough the same mileage every week, also whilst during this past week i haven't noticed any difference in performance. has anyone got any answers as to why this has happened and would anyone recommend using only regular?

i noticed the other day after about 40 miles or so that the oil temp had risen to about 98 and on my daily driving over last few days have noticed it sits at a steady 92 -94 after 15 miles is this norm? only just noticed so could have always been like it? is this a problem or shall i just ignore it until it starts reaching100?
-
how did u get on with ur coolant pipe fault btw?
-
done it last friday replaced pump, drive belt and got 5ltrs of g12 for £70 all in! found it easy to do and probably the easiest cooling system i have ever had to bleed! done the whole lot in just shy of an hour.
-
my water pump has gone but i am able to do the job as i have the facilities, just wondered if there was anything else that is worth doing as i am in that area of the engine other than the belt?

oh yeah i understand that but the price from the vw dealer just seemed ridiculous and wondered if it was true or they were ripping her off? i wouldnt dream of touching something like that!! -
handling problem since fitting 17"s?is it duff tyres
hopefulVR6owner replied to woodz77's topic in General Chat
yeah i think pressures are to blame may be that simple!! but cheap tires aren't any good on a car like a vr. if your getting rid though just sling the originals on!
