    mk1 golf vr6

You guys may already know about Eurowise, but if you are VRing a mk1 then these guys do a kit to drop the engine and gearbox in without cutting and welding... http://euro-wise.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8&products_id=11&zenid=538b09b4132ee614cef3c5edab80bbd1
  2. This isn't something I plan to do straight away, but I am interested in possibly doing this in the future. How easy would it be to replace my VR6 lump with an R32? From what I understand, the R32 is the same basically as a VR6. Would the R32 bolt straight in and use the VR6 cooling system, exhaust and gearbox?
  3. Thanks Nat. It was a loose connection on the starter motor. The old girl is up and running again now!
  4. Thanks a lot for your replies. I'll have another look at the car when I get home tonight and let you know the outcome tomorrow.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Can you remember what number relay you had to replace?
  6. Morning All! I've woken this morning to a problem with the VR. It doesn't want to start. I switch the ignition on and all the warning lights appear as they should. I go to turn it over and nothing happens. The engine doesn't turn over and there are no sounds whatsoever. The clock doesn't reset, so the battery should be fine... Does anybody have any ideas? I have an auto electrician coming out to have a look tomorrow afternoon, but it would be nice to get this resolved before then! Thanks in advance.

  8. Thanks for that! I'll try the Thermostat first tomorrow. If it still does it I'll try the water pump too.
  9. Hi I recently purchased a '97 Golf VR6 . I've been told by the previous owner that there is a problem with the cooling system. He was driving it home one day when a load of steam came out of the engine bay.He instantly thought that this was the head gasket and hasn't driven it since. I purchased the car as a project for a couple of hundred quid to see what I can do with it. After getting it home I fileed it up with water and put it up on the ramps and left it running. Once hot, water started shooting out of what looks like an overflow on the header tank. A mechanic friend said that it co
  10. Hi I purchased a '97 Golf VR6 on Friday. Yesterday after cleaning it out, I locked it. I then went back to it later and when I opened the door the alarm went off. Since then I haven't been able to dactivate it. Does anybody have any ideas on how to reset this alarm? It's the original standard fit one. Regards Anthony.
