I have recently done this with my mk3 golf 8v and all i can say is that it is really easy to convert. you will need for the conversion everything at the front of the car full subframe is easiest method with everything attached. you will also need vr6 clocks gear lever housing as the vr6 is cables instead of rod change, it is easy to swap over if you are mechanical minded but the only problem about buying a used engine is you dont know how it runs till you get it all in. if you can hear it before then the better. if you need any advice on fitting dont hesiate to ask but it is easy to do. wiring

where is the idle valve on an obd2 vr6

my vr6 when hot starts up the idle speed drops bellow the usual mark nearly cuts out or does cut out. sometimes the revs pick backup to normal and then everything is fine. if anyone has any ideas please let me know. i have just put new leads and plugs on so i dont think it can be that thanks

the timing chain noise does sound like the noise i am getting but it sounds much louder but maybe its just the sound clip does anyone know the part numbers for the parts so i can get them and what i would need to fix this problem. still getting some oil loss and i dont know where from doesnt seem too bad but the oil on plugs was the thing that worried me. -
i have an immoboliser Loom and pickup ring all working if anyone needs it cheap cheap. Pm me for details

there is no obvious leaks there is a noise when i press the accelerator. there is a click click click noise from the right hand side while standing at front of engine sounds like a bearing noise. any ideas -

i do use the synta silver oil i just did a oil change about 1000 miles ago new filter and oil genuine parts. but i noticed it needed topped up when i checked it. the car doesnt really smoke even with the de cat -

well it uses some not a lot and does need topped up here and there but usually after 1000 miles. i hope its not worth worrying about. i dont have blue smoke either thanks for your help. -
went to change the spark plugs and found a slight amount of oil on 3 and 4 cylinder spark plugs does anyone have any ideas on what this could be. it wasnt a lot bear in mind

hi there since i have put my new engine in my car the indicators on the dash dont work ie the arrows. i have put new clocks in tried replacing the bulbs but they still dont work. the indicators still flash but obviously there is not sign. does anyone have an idea on how to fix this thanks J

i mean when standing at front the noise could be the chains but im not sure they are noisy and can only be heard when pressing the accelerator

I have a noise coming from the right hand side of the engine and sounds like a click noise. The engine sounds very quiet but if you rev the engine you can hear a click click click noise. when driving it gets louder and even if you push the clutch in it goes away but if you rev with clutch in it will still be there. i went to a garage to ask and they didnt know but said it wasnt anything worth worrying about does anyone have any ideas. please help thanks

I have recently got a set of Bosch Super Spark plugs but they look different to the ones im taking out the car does anyone if they will still be as good. also im having problems removing the lead the lead tool doesnt lift the lead as its aftermarket leads i have does anyone know how i could remove them. help appreciated

HI there guys i have a friend who has just bought a Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec which sounds like a tickey old thing. He keeps going on about how his car is so fast and how he could smoke anyone on the road. would my Vr6 beat his Honda on the dual carriageway i would really like to show him up but thought i would do my research first just incase i got beat. thanks again

Hi there how you doing i currently have a 1996 OBD2 VR6 and i am having problems when cold starting. the car will start the idle speed drops and then goes up to 2000 the car sits there for a while and usually calms down once you have drove around for a while. the speed still sits a wee bit above 1000 revs. I have recenlty tried to get the car scanned but it wont read the ecu. i think my diagnostic port must be faulty. the plug seems different to OBD2 as its got the 2 connecters instead of 1. the reason for this is a newer engine has been put in the car. does anyone have any suggestions on how

My Mk3 VR6 is haivng a few running problems and i wondered if anyone had any suggestions. i recently put a VR6 engine into my mk3 GOlf GTI 8v everything went in easy andn was straight forward. now that the car is running when it starts it idles at 2000 revs. and after a few mins or a couple of revs it drops to bellow 1000. also when driving the car on a private road of course. at 120mph the car seems like it is at its maximum speed.the car doesnt limit at 7000 revs like it should and would climb past it if you let it. any suggestions. the engine is an OBD2 engine from a 1996 model engine has d

Hi there im currently converting my mk3 golf Gti 8v to a Vr6 the car is a 1992 Model and im putting in a 1996 P reg Vr6 engine OBD2 configuration. the car has an immoboliser and i dont know where the plugs for this go can anyone help me or give me a diagram so i can compelete this. i also need to know where the red 2 pin main power feed goes to as this hasnt been plugged in either. let me know asap any help will be much appreciated thanks J
