well, new engine and gerabox mounts fitted! and its still doing it so onto the wishbone bushes i guess! the banging happens only once on acceleration so say you launch in first it will bang but will make no noise through all the other gears until you hit the brakes and then it bangs.

right well after VAG check and fault clearing, the wierd misfire seems to have gone but still feels odd under throttle although this maybe down to engine mounts./ the faults where : knock sensor (open circuit/short circuit to ground sporadic lambda probe no signal sporadic maximum speed exceeded sporadic these wouldnt have been cleared since the engine was changed, so i am now going to try get a vag com cable so i can see if they come back Ratty

yeh i can move the engine a bit, had the same sorta thing in my golf when i did the front mount but that made the noise when i put foot down and lifted off. cars going into mainstealer tommorow so i guess they will give me an idea of what it is. Thanks Ratty

no airfilter just a gauze over the pipe, im thinking it may well be the MAF. cars going in for vag co tommoro Ratty

not sure if this is the right place to ask, but under throttle i get a bang under the car, and when i brake it does the same. can some one point me in the dirtection of things to look at i was thinking along the lines of engine mount or similar but am new to Mk3's and was wondering if there was any common faults. hello, new to this forum seems like a nice helpful and friendly place. first post will be a tech one just got a VR6 off me mate (vento) ne way it was a dissy car but he blew the motor, the new motor that he put in is a 2.8 (aaa) odb1 motor. however this was a coilpack motor and he made put a dissy on it. it ticks over but stutters a bit and the revs drop for a second, keeping constant throttle it stutters a bit too, and on full throttle it definately seems like its not performing proper. so! what would be the best approch>? try converty motor back to coil pack and get a coilpack ECU?or tr
