  1. Hmm I have decided to go with the harder but better option (in my opinion!) of modified MS V3 with extra code. Going to run a V6 cossie coilpack and disconnect the distributor, it should be easier than I thought. Should be better in the long run. The reason I am going this route is so I can run what turbo / injectors / anything I want and customer map it myself. I don't want a chip telling me what injectors etc I need to purchase! Also I can make it very economical at part throttle and cruising because I will map it that way. Plus I like plugging the laptop in an changing the rev limit etc whe
  2. I have put a post up on the MS Forums to see if I get a response HERE!
  3. Hi, I am going to strap MS to my engine. Not decided which route to take. Easy: Use one driver output. Leave everything how it is and use the stabndard distributor and coil pack. Not sure if this will allow enough flexibility for changing the timing if i turbo? HARDER: Modify MS to utilise 3 driver outputs. Use 3 coilpacks and ditch the distributor. Full flexibility on timing. What would your do to you OBD 1 VR6? Cheers, Ant.
  4. Has a play with temp sensor as suggested. It's runs the same under load as before, the only difference is the ilde smoothed out a bit and was a bit richer. Idle was really nice with the temp sensor pulled out. It's worth noting tho that when the lambda is trimming the fuel it runs at 1 lambda spot on, but if you floor it too much or the revs pick up too much it just chucks fuel in. To the extent you see black smoke sometimes. I always thought it was the rings wearing, because it's on 170K miles, but it seems it's just over fueling. I tried cruising today at a steady 60 / 70 / 80... etc.. and i
  5. is the lambda reading through 2nd gear, does this seem way to rich for a non turbod variety.Would a "chip" cause this over fueling. Where can I locate the ECU to see if a pervious owner has messed with it? Cheers.
  6. When you undo all of the bolts on the drive shaft (engine side) can you pop it out or do you have to take the hub apart too? All the bolts are out but I can't get it off. Cheers!
  7. Hi, Can't get my head aound this one... Perfect when cold, no hunting, no stalling. Progressively get worse as it heats up. Up to full temp she will hunt on idle and stall at lights etc. Any ideas? Cheers. *-)
  8. I best not bid on this then if it could be the worng one.
  9. Hi, Is there an easy way to determine a VR6 box from any other. As I understand it the VR6 box differs from the GTI box and I don't want the wrong one! Is there a code on there? Cheers.
  10. Hi, I've looked around the dash etc, but can't find the OBD port. It's a 1992 gofl VR6 so i think it should be OBD 1? Please help, i've been looking around the web for hours but can't find the answers i need! Also is there a way to check error codes by making the engine light flash, by tripping a pin on the OBD port? Cheers.
  11. Yes that would be fantastic, can you email me price to alew@ukonline.co.uk. Need to figure out if I can drive down to you (in brothers car) because I need to be back on the road! If anyone has part no. still please let me know so I can see if the local stealers have one (to save time). Cheers.
  12. I personally can see an SRI giving very big BHP gains over standard as it will move the maximum torque band higher. It should also increase the maximum torque. I.e. similar low end, and big BHP gains from 4K onwards to 6.5K, if remapped. It would come into it's own if it had correctly tuned uneven runners (for front and back banks), lairy cams, headwork and APR bolts (bottom and top!). That beast would rev past 7K with ease I would imagine. *Wakes up*. Oh yeah I need to sort out the other millions of problems before anything like that happens!
  13. Hi, VW can't locate the part I want. It's the pipe the goes from your block to the heater (with a small hose to throttle body too). There is only 1 small hose coming off it not 2. Anybody got the part number, need one tomorrow ideally but i think it's an expensive specialist part. Will try to get a photo. Cheers.
  14. Hi, you can certainly put me down for a manifold when they are ready, just what I need. Can you email me with details on how to order pants1984 AT hotmail.co.uk, or will you put a post up on the forum when ready? Cheers.
  15. Hi, What turbo manifold are people running, kenetic or ATP? Can you get LHD and RHD versions of these? Also do you know the cheapest place I can get the manifold I need? I think i'm going to start on a DIY turbo conversion, should be pretty cheap as I can make pipes up, intercooler from a scrapped car, lots of turbo's knocking about etc! Only bits I can't do on the cheap is make a manifold and decompression plate. Can get a turbo chip for cheap too! Cheers for help.
  16. OK contrary to that last post I have gone a ordered some GMAX ( ) because I can't wait for the quality kit. What do you recomend I change along with the suspension? Cheers.
  17. Just sent stuart an email to see if the offer is still valid. Need to get me some Konigsports asap! And then some eibach ARB's. What bushes or bits do I need to buy to compliment these as it's a 170K car. I can't stand another week on the current setup and i haven't even had the car a week... Look in sig for how low it is! Cheers.
  18. OK here goes, get your head around this one! Your in 5th 3000 rpm. Floor it the revs jump to 4000 then drop back to 3000 when it "grips". After it has "gripped" it will pull hard and take the 190bhp without slipping? Now in my experinace if a clutch is worn and slipping, it will just start slipping at higher revs (where the power is) and slip more and more. If you floor mine at 1000 rpm (no power there) it will slip to 3000 then back down and grip again all the way to redline? I seriously can't get my head around this. If it was a worn clutch it would just slip at higher revs and burn itself o

    Got one!

Nice to hear theres a few lads from leicester! Does anybody know Gordon from Street Racers (thurmaston)? Thats where I got it RR'd today, very very accurate rollers. I can usually be found down the street racers unit, also go to a few cruises etc...

    Got one!

I have just picked my Golf VR6 up now, as soon as I got back to leicester put it on the rolling road! 189bhp and 173 lb/ft. Not bad for a 170K engine! I spy a 6 - 2 - 1 tubular manifold, big bore exhaust, could have a larger TB and could have cams (not sure..?). What chip or software are people using to re-map? Will get some pics of car and RR graph tomorrow if i have time. Having gone from a GTI 6 it is certainly quicker, it just HATES BENDS or any sort of mild blimish in the road. The shocks are completely shot on lowered springs. Soon sort that out tho... Anyway just saying hello you will
