    didnt think it would fit putting the newer guide and tensioner on an older model as newer one is a simplex chain the older one is duplex.

    cheers m8 i think a certain ammount of what hes saying is bs probably just trying to justify spending £5000+ getting the 1.8t in his car in the first place.

    sounds like you need a new window regulator, the grinding noise is from the wires on the reg when they start to fray.

    just chatting with a guy at work i have got a standard vr6 while hes running a mk3 gti that has had £5000 spent on a replacement 1.8t from dubsports. he pretty much says his 1.8t is better than anything you could do to a vr6 and he goes on about going to santa pod and beating a supercharged vr6 on the quarter mile. im not sure if he is full of it or is the 1.8t that good an engine. hes now on about spending another couple of grand on doing a turbo upgrade etc and reckons hes going to end up with an engine pushing 400bhp. this just seems a really high ammount of horsepower for such a small en

    you get rotten egg smell usually until cat is up to operating temperature i wouldnt suspect a problem from that alone but the backfiring doesnt sound right
